Chapter Eight

Everybody can't be like you
Everybody can't be what you want
I begged to differ, I love being alone in my company
I reason well, I become brisk, I become merry just alone in my company
Being alone make me realize my true self and be conversant with things around me which wouldn't be if I am an extrovert
Anti-social is neither an act of form, it's what fills my soul an heart with pleasure
Accept me for who I am because I can't become what you are
My lesson have learnt, hope you learn from me too

"The best way I could define my feelings now is void..." I began talking "... But one thing is sure, I don't want this man nor this marriage again..." I pointed at Shinaayo leaving everyone in shock, Ayobami wasn't expecting me to pronounce divorce and Shinaayo is just smiling mischievously. "I want to end it once and for all while am alive and not live in it till I die" I ended with a flat tone.

"Ehnn Lade, o tin jami laya (you are making me feel scared) talk to me, what's happening? Maje ki aye pe egan mi(don't let people abhor me) igbeyawo osu melo? (Marriage of how many months?) Please just say it and let's settle it" my Mum said already stirring up.

"My husband here has been inflicting pains on me, he beats me at any chances he got, he doesn't come home sometimes, he find joy in causing me pains, he would insist I leave home for work 8am which if I didn't I will be in trouble, if I comes home late he would beat me for it, am tired of my life with my husband! Have asked him severally where have gone wrong but I got beatings as answer, it's has been two months of pains and sufferings with marks to show for it" I quickly remove the jacket on my two piece clothe style I wore to exposed my back to them, my mum and ayobami gasped... Of course they are not expecting to see that, I rolled my eyes at their reaction.

"...He uses belt, rod, knives, hot metal, mention it! He uses anything he sees to hit me, on the day he would deep my head in water for some minutes; days he would tie me to bed on weekends without eating and drinking, I will faint and wake up on same position, how I survived is what i don't even know! I'm tired of crying in silence, I'm tired! Am dying in pain, I'm tired!. I ended my statement in tears, my mum was crying too.

"Ayo, what has my daughter done to deserve this from you? Why do you wish to punish her for something... What am I even saying? Why do you want to kill my daughter? Ehhn? Did I gave my daughter to you to kill her for me? You think because I said she is all yours I meant you should abuse her anyhow you want? Do you know the implications? Or you've forgotten her Dad was a retired Admiral of the Naval force? Let me remind you that you will rot in jail!. My mum shouted at his face.

"Maybe she deserves to die when she lost her womb during abortion!" Shinaayo yelled back.
"What!" Ayobami, my mum and I said in unison.

I thought the world stopped for some minutes, it was as if there was a sudden earthquake beneath where am standing on, my legs were shaking so I use the armchair for support to sit down, for those minutes; I felt the good Angels had turned their back at me without me knowing, I have been suffering for what I did when I was still young and naive, am in pain because my past birth my future present and to say I never called the doctor to beg him not to tell my husband is a big mistake, why do I even go to the hospital in the first place? So, Shina is aware and am blind to notice that?

"...Yeah, you heard me right! Your public hoe of a daughter you bore looses her womb to abortion and you want me to keep her? She bought me pain! I don't mind inflicting her with more pains! He yelled.

This wasn't what I was expecting, I almost peed on my body, my mum looks pale while ayobami was shocked at his outburst, how did he know? As if on clue..

"..You are surprised I know right? I know you would! On a Sunday she went to the market, I was just checking some files in the wardrobe when a hospital report fell down, my brother is a medical laboratory technician remember? I know little about medical reports, I saw and read it, the result is done 3days before I saw it and it was even the hospital we are using she went to, dear wife here didn't deem fit to tell me, I was patient enough! On Monday evening when I want to go pick her, I overheard her conversation with Ayo that; "i had my 6th pregnancy for him which I aborted as well, the doctor told me I can't conceive anymore that my womb is thin" So, you can tell AY yet you can't tell me?". He said in rage.
"That day I left, I can't take it anymore, I almost loose it, now tell me why i should be cool with her! Till today she didn't tell me anything about it! And this fool here that claimed to be my friend knows about it! He yelled out loud.

"Hey watch your tongue! Am not in place to tell you that!" Ayobami yelled in replied.

"Yes you are not! You think I don't know you have a thing for her? I purposely proposed to her in your presence, I made you my best man, I made you see how much I love and cherish her! In simple words I showed it to your face that you are a loser! I have what you can't have!" He yelled back!

Ayobami charged towards him and hit him on his face, Shinaayo punched him back, they were rolling on the floor hitting each other, it was as if am watching the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Mum was shouting for them to stop, I was just watching their move and couldn't find my voice to say anything.
