IF I COULD CHANGE ONE THING

Maybe I can help heal some wounds.
Take those in darkness out to smile at the rainbow.
Catch those beautiful souls drowning with no rescue.
Spread love to households who think "hate" is the best watchword.
Put a smile on the lips of those without shelter.
Saying yes " we might be homeless but definitely not hopeless".

After Lade got back with Shinaayo, they live in harmony, her husband made sure she doesn't lack anything, they were happy with each other, he hired two maids to help her with house chores and errands, Lade was closer to her delivery date, they are already preparing for the arrival of the baby. Ayobami as been a good friend as before, everything was going on fine with them.

Lade was in the kitchen making sure that there was no flaws in what she had instruct her maids to do, "I'm expecting a special guest and I must do everything to impress her" she had said to them earlier, they made jollof-rice, fried-rice, roasted chicken and roasted snail garnished with pepper, sauces and onion, coleslaw and freshly made orange juice, pineapple juice, water melon juice and apple juice, even her husband is being bewildered by the preparations, he left when he received a call from his client he wanted to sign a contract with after some couple of hours, everything was set. Lade was bathing when she heard the door bell rings, she already told her maid to entertain her before she comes down.

She wore a slip-on cyan velvet gown sew in mermaid style, it's perfect on her and bring out all her curves, despite being pregnant she's still in a good shape, she had received bountiful compliment about it which made her feel pretty confident that she's good to go in anything she wore, she slide her legs in her inch-perfect heels and spray herself with her favorite perfume made by smart collections and made her way out to welcome her guest.

"Sister mi!" (My sister) she screamed from the stairs even before she gets to the last stairs, she was happy to see her.

"Aburo!" (Little sister) she felt a kind of joy building up in her, her little sister is now a woman, she doesn't look like what she had been through, she doesn't know when her legs sprang in motion within a seconds she's already standing before Lade, she gave her a heart warming hug, they were there for some minutes before they go move to sit down. "How are you doing?" She asked, she meant to ask that "how have you been, hope you are fine, how are you coping or how do you cope, are you happy? Do you need someone to talk to" but she chose the former question rather than the later.

"Haaahhh, aunty Ola has started again! I know what you are doing!" She said knowing fully that the question is a diverse question they both laugh at her reply.
"Before anything sister mi, let's eat first, I haven't eaten this morning, I want us to eat together" they move to the table and started eating, Shinaayo comes in and quickly joined them, he gist them about the client he went to meet.

"My client is a white man from overseas, he ordered for peppersoup, I warned him against it still he insisted.." they all shouted "haaa" in unison "..God I did not pity him when he was crying but because of money na, nothing a man cannot do, I have to pretend I care, now he wouldn't joke with Yoruba pepper and he wouldn't dare to take anything peppersoup in Nigeria" this made them laugh, they talk till they finish eating and move to the living room, their made cleared up the table, Shinaayo left to pick his call from his director.

"Am happy that you are fine, you don't know how much I was sad seeing you on sick bed after a long years and then when mum told me all you have been through, I couldn't hold the tears, you are a strong woman i must say" Olamide said holding Lade's hands.

"My dear, whenever you are in a vulnerable situation, focus on your health and peace of mind, make your emotional, physical, mental and whole well being your priority, I'm glad that you took the bold step by leaving then, if you had  stayed you would have becomes more depressed, living in pain, maybe you would have been no more and trust me your husband wouldn't see the need to change, he would have been remarried by now or have someone to warm his bed, at worst be in a serious relationship with another woman, would you be happy in grave that you lost your life because of him? She continues, adjusting her sitting position now facing Lade.

I'm glad you have a support when you left, people who leaves usually gets little or no support and still get mocked about leaving or divorced, if you had stayed, little or no support will come and you will still get mocked for staying in an abusive marriage, which is worst? That's why I said you should never compromised yourself with others, you first then others follows, it's not being selfish it's upholding a high self-esteem for oneself".

"And then again my darling, communication matters the most, you can't expect people to know how you are feeling when you don't voice it out, communicate with your spouse, families, friends or else you only leave them in worries, that's what you have done to your mum, it's bad of you" she hits her arm and Lade "ouch" in reaction  "that's for putting her in much worries, she cares! She's trying her best to be there for you, she's trying to make up for the past but you are shutting her out which is not a good thing, please try and adjust" she persuaded and Lade affirmed to change, they discussed about other things before Shinaayo walked in.

"What have I missed? Ladies talks?" He sat on the couch removing the pillow at his back for him to sit properly.

"Not ladies talks my dear, it's something I planned on doing when I got here, mission one accomplished and you both are my second mission" this makes them laugh.

"Sometimes you need to sit and ponder on how your actions affect others, don't be too quick to draw a battle line because you don't know where it will ends, don't do things aggressively as if you will never need that person again, we need ourselves which is why we need plentiful patient and love.." she looks at them to be sure they are on the same page.

"It takes a lot of courage to push through hard times, I must commend you both that you successfully did well, you (pointing at Lade) hold on to yourself with patient and you (pointing to her husband) took the major bold step by going for therapy and counseling. I'm happy for you both, now that you are back together, please be compassionate with each other, don't blame yourself for deficiency instead look for solution to it"

"Create time for yourselves communication is the key to every successful relationship, go on dates and outings, picnic and many things you both desires, who said you can't court each other in marriage? Do things you do together while courting it increases your love to each other, true friendship is the bedrock of a successful marriage, be each other's friends. Love is elastic it returns to shape after being stretched or compressed by anger, hatred or resentment, it's inevitable, fights and misunderstanding between couples will surely occur how you resolve it matters the most, when doing that, do so without delay, do not allow third party in your marriage, express your feelings with no regrets or holding back, please uphold your marriage may God bless you both and bless your marriage with more peace, love and harmony" they chorus Amen in unison and thanked her.

They continue gisting about random things, after few hours she left for her house. Lade was lying down on the couch with her head on her husband legs they were both pondering on what Ola has told them and promise to make more change in their marital lives.

After a while she began to feel uncomfortable, her hands slide around the large protrusion on her stomach, attempting to relieve the sharp pains she felt around her navel, her back was screaming in terror and weariness ground together beneath her bones. Her lungs ached for oxygen, her husband began to feel worried asking her what's wrong and she couldn't utter any word, she opened and closed her mouth to get some oxygen, her husband made her try to stand up and prepare to take her to the hospital, he's afraid of unexpected circumstances, he doesn't want to loose his wife and the babies, she managed to stand on her feet with her legs shaking, she gasped when a liquid poured down in between her legs, she raised her gown up to her knee to check what it's, she feared it might be blood has she had experienced it, when she saw that it's not blood but a brownish liquid she knows what that means.

"My water broke!" She screamed.
