I pinned my hair back in a ponytail and checked over my inventory again. I grabbed everything I had to repair computers in hopes I wouldn't have to buy anything, and headed out the door.
I hope this is the right address. I pulled up to a tall, white house. The trim on the windows were done in a matte black, and the porch was concrete and quite large. The yard looked nice, although slightly overgrown. I walked up the stairs and rang the doorbell. hearing a small, high pitched, barking.
"Hi!" Sav chirped. "I'm glad your here, and a little early at that."
I smiled. "I had the extra time, might as well."
Sav opened the door wider and stepped out of the way, I could see darker wooden floors along with a small, long-haired dog panting and barking at me. I stepped inside, Sav picking up the small dog under her arm. The interior was mostly done in a light, varnished, wood, giving everything a pleasant yellow-orange tint. The TV was turned on some kind of movie, giving sound in the otherwise quiet house. "Come with me, I'll show you my office." Sav said, leading the way through.
The kitchen was mostly done in more modern looking marble and stainless steel designs, looking much classier than my kitchen back at home. She led me through a hallway, where the tile flooring turned to carpet, and there were four doors. Going past the first on the right, I saw a bathroom looking nearly spotless. The door across from it was closed. The next door was open, sunlight breeching through. "Here." Sav pointed to the room as I slipped past her, inside.
I sat down at the dark oak desk and opened up the sleek, silver laptop. "This compute is dirt old dude," I chuckled "I can try to fix it but you'd be better off getting a new one." I heard Sav come closer as I turned the computer on and waited for it to load. I felt her put her hand on my shoulders, making my body flinch slightly, I quickly cleared my throat and hoped she didn't notice.
"There's no password so it should be easy for you to get in." Sav noted, watching me over my shoulder.
I nodded. "Alright, give me a few hours and I should have the problem fixed."
-----------------------
"Holy shit your a genius!" Sav exclaimed, hugging me. "How did you figure it out?"
I chuckled and gave a shrug. "Pretty simple once you know what your doing, every computer will tell you what's wrong with it if you look in the right places."
Sav smiled. "I made food for you if you want, nothing much, just sandwiches."
"That sounds good to me." Getting up I noticed what looked to be a family picture. No. There's no way. That's not right.
"Everything okay?" Sav said, putting her hand on my shoulder again.
I flinched slightly from the touch. I don't want to know if it's the truth, which its not, is it? no. no its not. "Yeah, I'm fine, just making sure the computer is running correctly. It should be fine now."
I followed her into the kitchen where two plates of food sat on the counter. I smiled warmly and thanked her, before looking at the food. It's okay, she wouldn't have any reason to do that to you, you can take it, it will be okay. I internally sigh and take a bite. "This is good, thank you." I told her.
Sav smiled brightly "Your welcome, its the least I can do for saving my livelihood."
Thankfully, we ate in silence. After we were both done, Sav took our plates and walked them to the sink. "You know," I spoke up. "You seem to have a pretty good family here. You have a lot of pictures of them."
She turns to me and smiles. "Don't let looks fool you. My parents and I were never really close, they were always traveling and doing their own thing. My older sister ended up raising me." She chuckles. "The smiles were rare."
I felt a pain in my chest. "That must have been hard for you. What was your sister like?"
"She was a pretty positive person, always telling me to be brave because nothing could hurt me if I was strong enough. But she could also really do some damage if she wanted to." She paused for a moment. "Enough about me, what about you?"
I shrugged. "My mother hated me since middle school, my brother died in a car accident, and my father is too afraid of my mother to say anything about it."
Sav's expression fell. "Oh, that must be hard for you, I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I'm pretty much bullet proof."
"Well at least there's that I guess. If you ever need to talk I'll be here." Sav smiled fondly.
If only it were that easy. "Okay, thank you. I really should be going now though."
She stood. "Are you sure you can't stay longer? I mean didn't you say you were off this weekend?"
No. No. No. I'm sorry. "I have some work to do today for some other clients. It's all due for showing soon and-"
She walked closer to me. I could almost feel her breath. My eyes widened and my chest tightened. I froze. Get away. Please just go away. "I want to thank you for fixing my computer."
My response came quicker than I expected. "You already fed me, really, its-" Before I could finish her lips were on mine. They were soft, gentle. I wanted so badly to be able to enjoy it but my heart pounded with fear. Run. God just run.
She pulled away from me, her face turning a bright shade of red. Her eyes lowered o the floor. "Y-you should get going." She stammered.
I didn't say another word, I rushed out the door and got in my car, slamming the door shut behind me. My chest hurt so bad I couldn't breathe. Every breath was choked and inconsistent. Her lips felt so good, so.. Safe.. No. It's all a trick. For all you know that could be her sister. She could be tricking you to lead her to you. "Fuck.." I said, I laid back against the seat and slid my hands over my face. Tears poured from my eyes. Does it really go like this..? Will I always be afraid..?
