I WAITED FOR MELISSA in the emergency room. She asked me if I wanted to spend a few hours with her at the hospital since Stiles and my uncle weren't home.
I'm guessing she kinda knew I'd be too afraid by myself. Maybe she understands because she may have gone through that before?
But I couldn't spend my first night back home by myself. Not with the nightmares I've been having.
I hate the nightmares. I hate the flashbacks of that night on the trail in the woods. It's the face. This thing had over 100 sharp teeth. Was the Beast of Gevaudan the same back in the days or did it look differently?
Stiles had asked me if I wanted to join them to hunt down the Beast, but I gladly refused. I do not want to see that thing near me again.
I was just waiting for Melissa to finish her shift. She said she would be done in an hour or so and offered to sleepover at her place in a guest room.
She came down to sit next to me. "You are feeling alright?" She asked and I nodded. "I'll be done in ten minutes."
Her phone started ringing. She picked up her phone, "Hey, Scott."
I could hear Scott sounding panicked over the phone, but I couldn't make out the words or what he was saying. Melissa's eyes widened.
"Okay, okay. Yeah, no worries. I've got it." She then hung up and turned around to look at me. "Hey, you're okay driving your car?" She had a worried look on her face. Oh, no, this isn't good. "Get out of here. Now. Drive and go home, okay?" She glanced around. "Its headed here."
My heart dropped. Oh, hell no.
She then ran towards her desk and spoke to another nurse on the phone that also seemed nervous. I guess this time it was the cops calling to let them know.
She then made an announcement over the PA system. "Code White. Code white. I repeat, Code White. This is a full hospital evacuation. Please calmy exit the hospital." Then within seconds, an alarm started ringing in the building. "All critical patients will be taken by ambulance to Hill Valley. Please evacuate."
Some people stood up and gave each other a confused look. I took a deep breath, stood up, and immediately made my way out of the hospital. Maybe this would've been a perfect night to stay at home actually.
I quickly got into my car and winced as I got in too fast. I then dropped my keys onto the ground. Damnit!
I heard some people screaming as they rushed out of the hospital.
I tried bending over but winced in pain. Damnit!
I went to try once more but a mine touched the other hand that I had on the steering wheel. I turned my head and saw Melissa looking at me.
"I'll drive." She said and I nodded. She helped me get out of the driver's seat and I made went to the passenger's side. Once I closed the door, she sped out of the parking lot with the other cars.
"Thank you." I said. I was so grateful that she had managed to get out on time.
*********
Last night was such a crazy experience. Melissa ended up bringing me back home and she checked my wound just to make sure everything was okay and suggested that I took my pain medication since I mentioned that it was hurting.
'My uncle appeared maybe an hour later which made me able to go to bed. I ended up having no nightmares, which I was grateful for. I don't even want to go anywhere else anymore.
"There are four steps," Stiles said as he introduced his plan. He had a talk with my uncle earlier this morning to figure out a plan. Nothing legally, we can do but apparently, they figured something out. We were all standing in Scott's kitchen as Stiles walked us through his plan. "We get into Eichen, we get into the Closed Unit, we get Lydia, get out."
Simple as that
"And we have to do it all of this while getting past orderlies," Scott added. "guards, electric door locks, and a Mountain Ash barrier."
"You have a plan for all of that?" Malia questioned.
Stiles held up a pass. "I stole this last night off an orderly. But it's useless 'cause they reset the codes each night."
"So why did you take it?" Kira asked.
"I'm getting to that," Stiles replied.
"The only way to get Lydia out of Eichen is to make that key card work again." Scott said. I frowned. How can we do that?
"How are you going to do that?" Liam asked before I could.
"We're getting to that," Stiles said, "Okay, just listen." He then turned his computer towards us. "I pulled all the history off the key card. Two weeks ago, there was a brownout and the security system rebooted. During a reboot, all of the key cards revert back to a default code. So, if we trigger a reboot..."
"The card goes back to the default code." Liam finished. "It works again."
"How are we going to cause a brownout?" Kira asked.
"That's your part," Scott replied. "You're going to draw power from the mainline." She looked a bit worried. "But only enough to cause the brownout."
"Not a blackout." Stiles specified. "Do that and you send Eichen into a lockdown which would be bad. Very, very bad."
"There's an electrical room behind the reception counter." Scott added then pointed to the room on the blueprint. "The main power line goes into two breakers that run power to all of Eichen."
Kira laughed nervously, "Okay, slight problem. I don't know how to do that."
"That's okay." Scott replied. "You have time to practice." I slightly turned my head. How much time do we have?
"Let's say all this goes perfectly," I said. "How does a brownout get us into the Closed Unit of Eichen?"
"The system takes five minutes to reboot." Stiles answered and I raised my eyebrows. That's not a lot. "In that five minutes all the alarms will be turned off and the key card should work."
"Liam, you and I get Stiles and Ashley to the gate of the Closed Unit." Scott explained. Oh. Stiles looked at me and smiled at me to reassure me. "But after that, they have to go on their own. We can't get past the Mountain Ash barrier. And when we're gone, all anyone's going to think is that there was a reboot of the security system caused by a brownout."
Stiles nodded in agreement then looked at all of us, "Uh, any questions?"
"How do we get into Eichen House in the first place?" Liam questioned.
Then followed by Malia, "What's our worst-case scenario?"
"What if I can't do it?" Kira asked worried.
"Okay, admittedly, a lot could go wrong. So we were debating if Ashley wanted to be the driver since she's injured unless she wants to go in with us just in case."
"Everything could go wrong." Liam said.
"Guys, if we don't do this, we lose Lydia." Scott explained. "She's going to die in there tonight. And she might take a lot of innocent people with her."
