"WELL! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!" Gojo blew on the whistle he had gotten from gods-know-where and waved enthusiastically as he watched the kids scurry off.
Gojo and Kiyotaka had intricately placed several of Gojo's items throughout the island for the kids to find and bring back to him. Whoever found the most items and brought them back by midnight, won.
However, the real objective was to get two very specific people to talk to each other.
Those being: Yuji and Megumi.
Oh yes, Satoru Gojo was quite aware of the drama and whatnot going around. He liked to eavesdrop.
And what better way to get them to confront their feelings than to put them in high-stress partnered situations.
Immediately, Maki and Nobara take off, having already formulated a plan. They were pretty set of that 10,000 yen.
Panda and Yuta also took off in the opposite direction with their own plan. Kayo and Inumaki shrugged and ran towards the resort instead.
And that left the final team-- Megumi Fushiguro and Yuji Itadori.
The two boys stood awkwardly in the sand. Megumi's eyes were fixed on the beach waves whereas Yuji tried searching for his eyes through his dark sunglasses. Megumi was suddenly really grateful for said sunglasses.
After what seemed like hours of excruciating silence, Megumi inhales sharply, nods his head firmly, and treks towards the opposite end of the beach.
"I-- uh-- Fushiguro-kun...?"
Megumi clenched his fists as he walked on the sand, "Yes?" His voice was stiff, forced. To a stranger, that would be his usual tone of voice, but to Yuji, it was off-putting. He almost winced.
"Where-- are you..." Yuji tried picking his words cautiously.
"I can't let Maki beat us--" he chewed the inside of his cheek, "We uh we need to find those items if we want to win,"
Yuji paused, then nodded, following suit, "R-right."
The awkwardness was almost tangible.
And after what seemed like another moment of eternal silence, Yuji Itadori finally decides to spit it out.
"Fushiguro, stop."
Megumi stops dead in his tracks, not having expected such firmness coming from Yuji's voice.
He turned slowly, forcing his eyes to look at the boy.
"What happened?"
"What do you mean?" Megumi played dumb, fighting to keep his voice from trembling. He clenched his fists tightly.
