Omniscient
Onika had a very intricate plan all along. The moment she laid eyes on the new student in her class all the way from California she just sensed something, like she had to have her in her life.
This feeling is odd but welcomed to Nicki. The flutter that absorbs and makes it's home in her chest is what reminds Nicki that she's living and breathes and can process. It sends all of her nerves into this overdrive that nothing satiates except for being in Jhene's presence. Even if they are in opposite sides of a room, it's perfect either way for Nicki, but she wants this girl.
The process of inviting Jhene was semi easy. At lunch, ironically while she was gushing to Lauren about her adoration for the other girl, she logged onto instagram and Jhene's account was suggested. Onika was so starstruck that she clicked follow and accept follow request for Nicki. She also had to click the send button when Onika typed out the "want to come over to my house to hang out?" text.
Onika nearly had to go to the nurse's office for a heart attack when she got the yes response and a funny reaction meme, it wasn't much funny, just kermit the frog with blurry hearts around him.
Now Onika had deliberately left her twin brother and sister at their elementary school after school program so she could have the house to Jhene and herself and be uninterrupted. Their parents each took up church bible studies and after school errands so Nicki wasn't worried about them.
Jhene came with Nicki after dismissal, they sat on the bus together and kept smiling and when they caught the other, they'd quickly look away, but snuck their gazes right back to the other. They were already a semi-embarrassing sight to see. The attraction was there, but they were so shy towards each other, it was so sweet it could make your entire mouth decay seeing them interact.
Nicki unlocked the door and showed Jhene into her house. A middle class home in New York, homey, the the outside was very old and in Onika's opinion very unflattering. However the inside made the home look much more spacious. The layout was quite interesting to Jhene, what she loved most was that it felt like people lived there. Her house, as they were still in the move in process, not so much, however her California home, was similar to this, with her family's own touches of course. She hated homes that were minimalistic, nah, the over cleanliness, made it feel too uniform an organized. Silly little decorations and statues and picture frames that the kids drew themselves in kindergarten and their little dabbles of Trinidad in flag form, picture form or whatever, along with eh smell of home cooked food in the kitchen were was Jhene loved already.
"I know it's not the cleanest but we have a place to rest our heads and that's all that ma---"
"I love it."
For a second, Nicki looked back and almost raised her brow in a shocked manner, she absolutely was not expecting Jhene to really like her house, she felt as though, maybe Jhene pitied her.
