Soft Spot

Chapter 8

We finally made it to the dining room which was on the other side of the building and everyone was already there. Me and Tabitha didn't really talk much on the way there but it wasn't a awkward walk surprisingly, as we turned into the room my eyes feast upon a aray of foods. My eyes marvelled at the deliciousness that was sitting in front of me, the food stacked high and I could tell that they took the time to pick foods that we liked. I walked over to Barbara and sat next to her with Jerome to my left at the end of the table and began to pick some food from the plates in front of me. I ended up going for a mix of Mac and cheese with vegetables and chicken, I know it may not sound great but I loved Mac and cheese and the chicken and vegetables were just there for health reasons and protein to fuel my body, it was very much needed since I had lost so much weight being in Arkham so I made sure to grab a big portion. I took my first bite and let me just tell you one thing whoever cooked this needed to be giving a prize or something it was amazing, the flavours blended together with the creamy consistency melting in my mouth, the chicken was succulent and tender and the vegetables were soft and cooked to perfection! I couldn't believe that this would be the type of food I would be eating everyday, I always tried to be healthy at home but it was very hard when all we ever had were leftovers of whatever takeaway my dad brought for himself the night before from a night out and froze pizzas. Not a single vegetable in sight might I add. Once I was almost finished with my plate I looked to see what everyone else had got Barbara when for a salad mix which had different meats integrated into it, Jerome had chicken drumsticks with other picky foods, Greenwood had an almost raw steak which I scrunched my nose up at, Aaron had some Dino nuggets with chips, Dobkins had some type of mush of everything and Tabitha had some pasta bake, I wasn't really sure what was in it.

Once we had all basically finished our food Theo walked in with a grin on his face. "I hope you all enjoyed your food it was prepared by my lovely chef here Julie scarf." He said gesturing to the lady standing in the corner of the room looking slightly terrified of all of us. I showed her a huge smile to convey my gratitude and that I mean no harm and she looked slightly more relaxed after. "So let's get down to business shall we?" Theo said bringing the room back to him with a clap of his hands, his guards started to hand out sheets of paper while he continued, "First order of business is the building, it's quite big and very easy to get lost in so I made a map outlining different areas which you can go to freely at any time." I looked at the paper while he spoke and scanned the different areas, wow they had a gym, a pool, games room, cinema room and even a bar! I looked at Jerome who was already looking at me with a smirk, he was definitely planning something I could tell. I just shook my head rolling my eyes playfully before turning back to Theo as he continued, "Food will be ready everyday at 9am, 1pm and 5:30pm and if you want anything specific then you can tell either me, my guards or Tabitha and we will pass on the request." He paused for a moment making sure everyone understood, "Now just so you are aware most of you can't leave unless instructed too, this is because we can't risk you getting caught and telling anyone. Jerome, Barbara and Jess, you may leave when you would like as long as you tell me or Tabitha and we give the okay on it. If any of you were to get caught however, and this goes to all of you, Tabitha will kill you." I raised my eyebrows looking down the table at Tabitha, she shrugged at me sending me a playful glare. If she things she will kill me she has another thing coming is all I'm gonna say.

Theo then babbled on about some rules which if broken mostly all ended with us getting killed he got into our first assignment which we will be completing next week. The plan was very good, it was gonna be our way of outing our little group and striking fear into Gotham. Barbara wasn't allowed to go as she was needed for something else which made me frown, great I was gonna be left with a bunch of complete psychopaths. May sound harsh but I don't really associate myself with most of the people at this table, I'd say I was more cunning and calculating  so I'm gonna find it hard to work with these people as they all just want to kill people blatantly and leave a mess which no doubt I'll have to clear up afterwards. Still I guess it's fine I wasn't about to sit here and argue with him in front of everyone. So once the meeting was I stayed back and waited for everyone to leave before walking up to the Galavan siblings, "Look don't get me wrong I love the plan that you have, I believe it fits well with everyone on that table apart from." I looked between them both trying to figure out what they were thinking, Tabitha gave me a sympathetic smile while Theo just looked at me through narrowed eyes. I continued, "I don't want to be on the front page, I don't mind helping out and doing the dirty work behind the scenes but being front and centre is just not my thing." I finished with a small tight lipped smile. Theo was thinking for a moment. "Well I suppose that is understandable we did debate for a while on whether or not to send you with them. How about this, you and Tabitha can work together. She needs to keep watch and kidnap the 7 people on the docks, how does that sound?" I thought for a moment, this would help me satisfy my need for chaos while not being targeted from being on the front page. "That sounds like I fun." I said looking at Tabitha with bright grin to which she smiled back. I bid my goodbyes after Tabitha talked me through what her roles were and the plan before turning to leave the room.
