Soft Spot

Chapter 9

The week went past a lot slower than I anticipated, I mostly spent time with Tabitha, Barbara and Jerome, me and Tabitha have gotten really close over the week she's basically taken me under her wing and training me to be a mini assassin. She's been giving me workout plans, 1 on 1 sessions in the gym and also weapon training. I've become very handy with throwing knifes, pistols and have almost got the hang on the whip she uses. Me and Barbara have gone out a couple of times mostly shopping, I let her help with outfits as in my old life I used to just wear oversized t shirts and skinny jeans as we couldn't afford clothes. Jerome and I mainly chilled in each other's rooms talking about the plan and overall just goofing around, we would sometimes go to the cinema room or gaming room if we got bored though. Today was the day through and I started my day like every other, I woke up at 7:15 went to the gym, showered and woke up Jerome. We were in my room and I was just chilling on my typewriter while Jerome was sat on my bed it was around 8:45 so food wouldn't be ready for another 15 minutes.

We sat in a comfortable silence with the only sound being the taping of my fingers on the typewriter, "Jess can I ask you something?" Jerome asked from my bed, I turned to face him seeing him sitting on the edge rather than lying like he was. "Uh yeah sure?" I asked almost as a question looking at him curiously, he continued, "I was gonna ask you on the first day but I completely forgot until now. You remember the first day when we got here?" I nodded signalling for him to continue. "Well before you walked into your room, you looked to your side and nodded at something. I've noticed you do that a lot and I have heard you speaking in your room and no one is here." He finished off his sentence, I thought for a moment trying to figure what he was talking about when I heard a throat clear from besides me, "It's me you dumbass!" She said as it was obvious. "You just did it again?" Jerome said again very confused, I decided I may as well tell him, he was my best friend in here after all and he wouldn't exactly stop talking to me because of it so I sighed before explaining everything I could about it not necessarily understanding it myself. He sat there for a couple of moments silently thinking. "That's... pretty cool yknow! You have a friend with you at all times." He exclaimed to which I laughed at in reply. "Um yeah I guess but could you not tell anyone I don't really trust Theo and don't want him to know." I said deadly seriously he sent me a soft smile, "Of course Jess." Then he did something I never expected from this ginger boy. He stood up walked over to me then hugged me, it wasn't a long hug but a short sweet one he ruffled my hair as he pulled away and looked at the time. "Food time!" He practically yelled as he raced out of my room, I just shook my head laughing while following the ginger.

Once we had finished our food, Theo gathered us in the living room area we were in the day we arrived and told the others to get changed into there Arkham outfits and meet back there in 10 minutes. He then turned to me and told me to go with Tabitha, I walked over to her and she said she got me a present. "Ouuu what is it!" I said excitedly, she chuckled at my childishness before bringing out a small bag and handed it to me. I grabbed it and pulled the contents out to see a pair of stretchy cargo army green pants which had knife holders on the waist and one on each leg, a belt with a gun holder on it, a long sleeved black top, a mostly washed out black/grey bomber jacket with washed out dark blue shoulder pads and lastly was a pair of very stylish combat boots. I was in awe at the outfit, I stood there mouth agape and wide eyes as I looked up to see Tabithas happy smirk. "Go on, go get changed the boys will be here soon." I ran into Tabithas arms giving her a hug saying thank you before bolting out of the room to get changed.

I now had the outfit on and did my hair in two Dutch braids which took forever, definitely need to get it cut soon, and was now walking into the room where everyone was gathered getting ready to leave. I walked past everyone in confidence and grabbed my weapons putting them in their respective holders on my clothes as well as some straight jackets to carry out to the car. "Looking good princess." I heard from behind me turning to see Jerome looking me up and down with a smirk on his face, I shook my head and rolled my eyes jokingly at him before poking him in the chest pushing him away slightly. "Come on ginger, we got a job to do." I said whilst walking past him sassily. Everyone was staring at me some proudly, some in awe and one person in a 'I want to eat you' way. We made our way down the stairs me and Tabitha walking out the front, we definitely needed to be put in slow motion for a movie or something because we looked like a power group. Finally we packed everything into the car before we drove towards the docks to finally set Theo's plan into action.
