"So...what do you think?"
Jimin sat perched on the edge of the couch with a slice from the pizza that Hobi had ordered the two of them in his hands. Hobi's eyes were filled with expectation as if Jimin weren't about to just eat pizza but something more rare and treasurable. Hobi continued to watch Jimin as he leaned forward and took a bite of the pizza. The cheese on the end of it stretched out like a saggy elastic that Jimin immediately had to chase with his lips to the laughter of the other.
"I'm telling you. It's cheesy heaven."
"It's a cheesy mess," said Jimin as he tried to swallow it, watching the other rock back on their butt on the seat beside him with laughter.
Hobi was just about to reach for a slice of his own when they both paused. There was a noise outside the apartment door.
"Maybe Henley is back early," said Hobi as he moved to get up.
That thought was quick to die away though as soon as Hobi reached the kitchen. Jimin didn't know how Hobi could tell the difference since it had fallen silent, but maybe that was it. Maybe it was the silence and how deafening it was. Jimin moved to put his pizza slice down in the box as he rose to his feet. Hobi turned to look at him as he heard Jimin rise.
'Quiet', he mouthed before Jimin read the next word formed on Hobi's lips.
'Danger'.
Jimin felt his heart pound. The pounding of his heart felt like it echoed through the apartment that had fallen as silent as the grave. Hobi cast his eyes about the apartment but didn't have time to make a grab for anything to use as a weapon as the door crashed open. Staring the two of them in the face was a snarling and growling wolf. The wolf's fur was silky black and its eyes looked like two burning coals. Its razor sharp teeth were barred as a ferocious growl echoed out before them. Jimin could tell the wolf's eyes were zoned in on him. A silver collar that was about the wolf's neck seemed to be charged by electricity, glowing blue as the wolf was zapped right before it sprang into action.
Hobi ducked towards the kitchen as Jimin stumbled backwards into the living room. Jimin tripped over the pizza box that was on the floor, landing on his butt as he watched the wolf growl and bound towards him like he was about to tear him limb from limb.
"No...no...please!" begged Jimin as he held up an arm to protect himself.
He had his eyes shielded so he didn't see Hobi racing up behind the wolf with a frying pan. Hobi smacked the wolf on the back of the head with it so hard that - as the wolf leaped into the air and was about to land on Jimin - the wolf flew sideways into the wall by the television. The wolf's body hit the television screen, shattering it on impact as it collapsed onto the floor. Jimin brought his arm away from his face when he heard the shatter of the screen, looking at Hobi before looking over at the collapsed wolf.
"Come on! We've got to go!" said Hobi as he moved to grab at one of Jimin's arms with his free hand.
Jimin still had his eyes focused on the wolf as Hobi tried to tug him to his feet. For a brief second, it seemed like the wolf's eyes looked sad and scared. Jimin recognized that look as it was one he wore often before he tried to drown himself. Those emotions that were reflected in the wolf's eyes were immediately chased away though as the metal collar it wore was electrified again. Growling, the wolf rose to its feet as Hobi managed to tug Jimin on to his.
