What the heck was that?

I know I was starstruck but what was that?! I groaned; I left him inside! Okay, act cool and pretend that you had to call someone important. Yeah, that sounds reasonable, right?A few minutes after, Gerard came out of the shop holding a paper bag possibly holding the monkey t-shirt that I was eyeing in the store.

"Hey, why'd you run off?" Gerard asked worriedly.

"I'm sorry, Gerard. I forgot that I had to make an important call," I replied, showing him my phone. His brows narrowed in confusion.

"Oh, I see.Uh, it’s okay. Here,” he smiled, handing me the bag. I nodded and took the bag from his grasp.

"Thanks again, Gerard. These shirts are cool," I smiled.

"It was nothing, remember. It was my fault, not yours,” he reminded me. I stifled a giggle and he looked back at me with his famous smile.

"Well, it was nice meeting you, Gerard Way," I said, extending my hand to him. He took it.

"Just call me Gee and it was my pleasure," he replied.I felt the static current again. And this time, I knew he felt it too because his grip tightened for a second once we shook hands.I looked at him.He looked at me. We stood like this for what seemed like an eternity. I was the first one to let go and my cheeks turned pale pink.

"Um, I…uh—I have to go,” I stuttered lamely.

"Oh, okay. I guess I'll see you around?" he asked, putting his hand in his back pocket.

I smiled. "Yeah. I’d really like that."

He smirked.“See ya, Nikki. Take care."

"You too, Gee," I said. I turned away from him and started on my way home. I was about to cross the street when he called out.

 "Hey, Nikki! Wait!" he shouted.

"Yeah? I asked. I didn’t forget anything, did I? I patted my pockets; my phone was there. I was wearing my hoodie and my art bag was draped over my shoulder. I even had the dirty shirt from earlier today.  I wonder what he wants…

“Are we really gonna see each other again?” he shouted. I didn't know the answer to that question; I wanted to say yes, but I didn't want him to expect anything that I couldn’t give him. Plus, what does he want from a girl like me? I’m not famous or anything and he’s gonna be touring for a good part of the year if not more. I smiled.

"We'll see,” I shouted. He nodded and waved to me, turning towards the opposite direction.
