The whole day was spent walking.

Not much was spoken. Link was his usual quiet self and he soon learned that Sheik didn't talk much either. He asked the occasional question but other than that...

Silence.

Through that silence, Link had had realizations about his current situation. The Yiga had taken him and basically killed him. Or at least tried to kill him. Then, out of the blue, a man who appeared to be a Sheikah saves him and is now taking him to safety.

He found it odd that a Sheikah would be so close to the hideout. And even then, how did he get in? Link had a nagging feeling in his brain that this guy was actually a Yiga. It made sense, right? He would already be in the hideout when they had taken him.

But why would he take me back?

They had made good distance. They would most likely make it back to Kakariko by the next day. As the sky turned black, Link suggested they stop for the night and Sheik agreed.

"We should leave pretty early, though," Sheik added. "We'll get there sooner that way."

They came upon Scout's Hill. It was a hill with a lone collapsed lookout tower on the top that sat to the right of the Great Plateau and just south of the Forest of Time. Link had found a Korok up there a while ago.

When they got to what was left of the structure, Link got busy with a fire and Sheik set up the sleeping pads and supplies they would need. They sat by the fire and ate a dinner of roasted bird thigh and baked apples, mostly in silence. Link's mind ran wild with thoughts of what they were to do once they returned. They would no doubt have to do something about the clan. All the evil from the land had been wiped out. He scowled as he knew that more work was to follow them soon. He took another bite of the roasted meat. What would have to be do—

"How does it feel now?"

Link looked across the fire at Sheik. The flames danced in front of his face.

He looked at his wrist. It still hurt a little bit, so he shrugged, implying that it was doing ok.

Sheik let out an airy laugh. "I mean how does it feel now that you've completed everything. You freed all the Divine Beasts, got your memory back and defeated the Great Calamity, you've cleared all the monsters and guardians." He shook his head. "How does it feel knowing you've done everything you were destined to do?"

Link sighed and thought for a moment. "I don't know. It... well, it feels normal, I guess. I did what I was supposed to do. There are times where I think about it and realize how much I've really done, but I don't want to appear boastful about it. I try to keep it to myself," he concluded.

Sheik looked at him. "Well that's the most I've you say so far. Why do you keep quiet? I mean, I think that's the third thing you've said to me this entire time."

Link hesitated. "I keep quiet because of the stress that was on me all that time ago. I felt it would be better if I stayed quiet. I've also found that I'm more comfortable this way."

"And now?"

Link looked at Sheik. "You ask a lot of questions."

"I just want to get to know you, that's all." He took a bite of his apple.

Link stared at him, his brows furrowed slightly. "Why about you?"

Sheik stopped chewing. "Hmm?"

"Who are you, Sheik?"

Sheik set his food on his lap and looked at Link with his red eyes.

"Life is what we make of it. Everyone has the choice to become what they wish to be. I just wish to be my own person.
