Page after page after page she flipped, and still nothing.
"He said it was in here," Paya murmured to herself. "It has to be in here."
She flipped through Sheik's book of special songs. He had promised that there was one in there that would bring her healing... or something.
"Oh Hylia, please," she prayed at her desk while the deceased Sheik lay on her bed. Teba had flown him to the village after the battle had ended. Now, Paya was frantically looking for answers.
She passed so many songs: Storms, Fire, Shadows, Winds...
Healing.
She froze as the page stared her in the face. It read:
The Song of Healing
This ancient song is an incredibly sacred and special song used for the broken in need of repair. When played, it will heal the broken to an extent, and according to legend, if the Goddess wills it, the song can even bring back the recently slain. It is said that a hero titled the Master of Masks used it to save a mythical town.
Paya's eyes filled with tears. She had to try. She had to.
"Ok, Sheik," she nervously said. "Ok ok ok ok ok..." She closed her eyes and opened her heart to the Goddess. She poured her deepest desires, to bring Sheik back. To bring the one she cared about back.
She opened them, took the harp in her arms, and started to play.
It was a very haunting melody, as if it was somehow familiar, yet, it was beautiful. As she played, Paya could feel herself become light, and felt a burden lift off her.
As she finished, she gently placed the harp down and looked at Sheik, who still lay lifeless on the bed.
"Sheik, she whispered. "Sheik, it's me. It's Paya." She swallowed the lump in her throat. "I played the song like you told me to. I did it, Sheik." Her eyes watered. "Please tell me it worked, Sheik. Please tell me."
Sheik lay still. Not a single muscle moved. Then, she heard an inhale. Then an exhale.
"You tell me Paya," he mumbled.
Paya stood up out of her chair and covered her mouth.
"Did it work?"
Sheik opened his eyes and looked at Paya. He smiled and started to sit up.
"Sheik!" Paya exclaimed. She ran into him and toppled onto the bed.
Paya wrapped her arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around her waist. They squeezed each other as they rolled on the bed.
"Oh Hylia. Thank you, Paya," Sheik whispered into her ear. "I knew you could do it."
Paya squeezed harder and softly kissed his cheek. Sheik smiled and did the same. They laid on the bed for a moment.
"I have so much to tell you," he said into her ear. Then, Sheik sat up.
"Wait," he started. "Paya... Where's Link?"
—————
Link yelled and jolted up. His heart was going a million miles an hour and his hands clenched whatever he was laying on. Sweat lined his forehead and he could feel it drip down his back. He looked around and tried to get his bearings.
He was in a gigantic hallway-like room with high ceilings and empty white beds that lined the walls. It was all made of beautiful stone bricks and had long glass windows that flooded the room with gorgeous warmth and light. To the far end was an archway that looked to lead outside. To the right was a double doorway with wooden doors that had the crest of the royal family carved into them.
