Side Story I : "May I Have This Dance?"

Author's Note: There will be three side stories at most, though it is up to you if you want to read them since they will all be Kim Dokja and Cale now having a label called boyfriends xD.

The bustling city of the Roan Kingdom annoyed Cale to bits. The screams of joy made the redhead want to just return to the subway train and just sleep.

He remembers how he caved into the number of pleas from the children and his family to celebrate his return after ten years (Cale could only frown on how large the time gap is).

Everyone is busy getting ready for the party. Commoners will celebrate in their respective houses while watching the party inside the castle live, courtesy to Alberu who wants the commoners to not let them feel left out despite all the protests from the nobles.

"Cale, wake up."

Kim Dokja pulled the redhead away from the soft mattress as Cale didn't care and landed on the chest of his dear companion.

"Dokja-yah...can't we sleep in?"

The raven could only chuckle as he brushed his own lips against the redhead's, making Cale groan as he backed away.

"Disgusting, I haven't even brushed my teeth yet."

"Yah, my dear tomato. Can't you give me a morning kiss?" Kim Dokja pouts making Cale grimace.

"No, let me brush my teeth first."

Kim Dokja caves in, muttering "Alright" as he followed Cale into the bathroom.

Both brushed their teeth while Kim Dokja rested his head against Cale's shoulder who was close to sleeping again. The raven could only sigh before rinsing his mouth and looking at his lover.

Kim Dokja snatched away Cale's toothbrush as the redhead only blinked at him before letting his lover do what he wants.

Kim Dokja thoroughly brushed the redhead's teeth, his left hand holding Cale's jaw while the redhead became conscious of what is happening between the two of them.

Cale could only hold his breath while he stares at his lover who is way too close. Kim Dokja, of course, notices this as he inched closer towards the redhead's face.

"Tomato, you can wash your mouth now." Kim Dokja says before backing away, adoring the flushed skin of Cale.

The redhead could only grumble as he bowed down and washed his mouth. Kim Dokja decided to tease him, so he leaned down and took a bite of Cale's neck making him yelp, leaving a mark on the redhead's flushed skin.

"You damn squid why are you biting meㅡHey!"

It continued for several minutes, and Kim Dokja stopped because Cale is now full-blown red with hickeys littering all over his neck.

As if sorry, Kim Dokja licks the red marks and nuzzled into Cale's neck.

"Can I have my kiss now?"

Cale only scowled and pushed away Kim Dokja's face, "You're asking now when you just bit me like a dog?!"

Kim Dokja pouted, "Please...?"

Cale looks and said in a flat tone, "No," before slamming the bathroom door close.

"Human, are those hickeys?"

Cale could almost spit the wine he was drinking, looking at Raon with his mouth agape then at Eruhaben.

"Don't look at me, they're old enough to know about those things."

The musical instruments continued to echo throughout the ballroom of Roan's Castle, Kim Dokja's companions are definitely enjoying the party seeing that they kept eating and admiring the place albeit some are whining because of the dress code.

In the end, Cale didn't answer Raon as he kept chewing grapes from his own platter.

"They are hickeys, aren't they?" On teasingly asks, and they could see how Cale's ears redden at their claim.

"Cale nya..." Hong suddenly says, making On look at her brother abruptly.

"Noona is an adult now...I was wonderingㅡ"

"Of course." Cale immediately says, remembering that he wasn't there to dance with his daughter in her coming-of-age ceremony.

"Cale, you didn't have to..."

On could feel her head getting a pat from the redhead, then she could hear him say the words that she wanted to hear for the past ten years.

"I promised you a dance, didn't I?" Cale laid out his hand towards On, who immediately clasped hers with his and feeling giddy, "Yeah. Yeah, you did."

The redhead led his daughter into a slow dance, eliciting smiles from their families as if they were also waiting for this scene to happen.

The music had ended, making both Cale and On bow towards each other, and several people clap at their dance.

The redhead wasn't the one to show affection in public, but he can't help it as he placed a kiss against his daughter's temples while muttering words of sorry against her ear.

"I'm sorry I just asked you now, On."

On then hugged his father figure who is the same height as her now, tears welling in her eyes as she sniffed the familiar scent she missed for a decade.

Cale guided the girl back to their own table as he stopped himself from falling due to Raon also running to give him a hug.

"Raon, do you want to dance with me too?"

The black dragon shook his head to reject his offer but instead, he hugged the redhead tighter as Cale also beckoned Hong to join in.

The four of them sat at their table as Cale continued to listen to all their stories, sometimes giving his own thought to them as they all laughed at it while eating their own food.

A hand was then laid out in front of the redhead who was busy nibbling his own food. Cale looked up to see Kim Dokja in a black tailored suit, his hair sliced back showing his forehead.

"May I have this dance?"

'He's pretty,' he thought, and Cale wouldn't say it out loud unless they were both alone.

Cale grabbed the hand that was laid out to him and stood up, even though he was rather lazy to dance around. But then again, he could do this to repay for all those years they had missed by being without each other's sides.

The joyous music turned into a somber one, a dance only reserved for Cale and Kim Dokja, as the redhead was the one who led his lover even though his toes are hurting from all the overstepping.

Alberu was the one who asked to change the music, and everyone had made a circle around them to watch the sight of their redhead Commander dancing with his lover.

Kim Dokja couldn't help but whine, "I was supposed to be the one who will lead you."

Cale could only smile, "Next time, once I teach you the basics."

"You promise?"

Cale twirled the raven in his arms before leaning down to kiss him, "Yeah, I promise...you squid."
