𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐈 didn't know how to react to the awaited news. she knew it was coming, she could sense it since last night; but what she didn't sense was that it would come this soon. "that fast? seriously?" she groaned, faceplanting her head into the countertop, feeling emma softly stroke her fingers through her hair. emma could hear sisters quiet sobs but remained quiet, continuing to comfort her to the best of her ability.

"it's gonna be alright, neens."
"no, it's not."
"nini, it will get better. you have to go through the pain before you can have a happy ending."
"but how am i supposed to get a happy ending when the person i love the most has his arms around a brand new girl!"

at this, emma fell silent, knowing that if she said anything more than a single word, nini would let all hell break loose.

"i'm sorry, neens." emma whispered calmly, pulling her sister into a tight, comforting hug, hoping that she would soon erase the pain from her memory.
"it's not your fault, em. don't apologise." nini whispered back, holding onto her sister even tighter, assuring herself that she wasn't going anywhere.

𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐈'𝐒 𝐌𝐔𝐌𝐒 could hear incoherent sniffles erupting downstairs, so, being a normal, sane mother, the two headed down after getting ready to check on their daughters.

mama c walked down first, mama d surely following behind her, as they came into sight of a distressed nini, and an emma, whom was trying her best to comfort the brunette. "oh my god, dana. come look." mama c already had tears brimmimg her eyelids when dana made it down to the last step before seeing their daughters. "what could've possibly happened?" mama d choked out, gulping down her already fallen tears.

𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐌𝐔𝐌𝐒 weren't being very secretive with their appearance, but it was good enough for nini not to notice; emma, on the other hand, saw them almost straight away. she patted the girls back lightly, before standing up and whispering into nini's ear.
"mama's are here, please talk to them, neens." and with that, emma shot her mums a warming smile, and headed back upstairs to her room.

𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐈 had been sitting at the kitchen island for about two hours top at this point. her mums had already tried getting an answer out of her, for a whole hour, but nothing worked, all nini could do was cry, cry, cry. eventually, her tears were all dried up and stained against her flushed red cheeks as she lifted herself up from the countertop and headed over towards the living room, where her mums and sister sat.

"hey," she muttered, barely able to properly speakbecause of how long she had been crying for. the three shot the heads up from whatever they may have been doing, emma chucking her phone beside her, and mama d and mama c setting down the book they were reading; turning their full attention to nini.

"hello, sweetheart." mama d comfortingly replied, sending her daughter a sympathetic smile, causing a desolate tear to trickle down nini's cheek. "are you ready to tell us what happened, or do you need a little more time?"

all eyes were on nini, she felt like everyone was just waiting for her to say something or she would just simply evaporate into thin air. this wasn't an easy thing for her to say, obviously; this is what made her feel so empty. feel worthless, no matger how much emma tried to tell her otherwise. she felt like she had no real purpose anymore.

but she also didn't want to leave her mums wondering what could've happened, because knowing them, they would create the least possible scenarios in their heads and worry themselves sick about it. heartbreak was a normal thing, a universal thing; everyone goes through it one way or another, and this was her way. getting cheated on. by her childhood best friend.

she knew the longer she stayed silent, the more her family would worry, so, trying to gain some non existent confidence, nini breathed in deeply before blurting out the truth.

"ricky cheated on me."
