"Soobin, I already told you I don't think I should interfere in your life anymore. Why do you think I didn't pick up all this time?", I suddenly heard Kasumi's voice. I blinked confused. Wait, Kasumi? I had instinctively pressed the first number on my call list, expecting it to be Ari but I had forgotten that I tried to call Kasumi yesterday. "Soobin?", she asked. "Uhm... I... I actually wanted to call Ari but I am only granted one call so you might-", I started out but she interrupted me: "Wait what? You're only granted one call? What in the world happened?" "I was about to tell you", I said calmly, "I got arrested but it's all a-" She interrupted me again: "What the heck Soobin? When did you go completely crazy?" Her voice sounded upset, but not scolding. More like... Worrying? No, there was something more to it. Like she was only mad because she was... Feeling sorry? I shortly scolded myself. As if I would start to understand what she was thinking or feeling. Kasumi would probably stay a complete mystery to me forever. "Which police department?", she asked. I told her where and before I could explain myself, she hung up.

And only a few minutes later, she stood in front of me, expression mad, eyes soft and warm as always. Something inside me told me that calling her might have been the better idea compared to calling Ari. "Now, from the start", she demanded, "What happened?" I told her what my girlfriend had asked me to do, how I got hold up by an employee and how I tried to explain them what had happened. While he insisted that I would have stolen the watch. My defense had been of no use, we were here now and they were about to sue me, giving me one last chance to prove my story to be right by calling someone, Ari at best. But I knew she would deny it. If what I heard until now and she really tricked me into stealing something, she would never admit it.

Kasumi looked at me and sighed, arms crossed over her chest. Her face showed slight disappointment but also empathy. "You're so gullible, dear", she muttered and suddenly hugged me. Only for a second but long enough to make me understand that she was on my side. And to make my heart skip a beat. She smelled good, even better than Ari with her best perfume on. "I'll try to talk to them then", she promised and left the room.

Surprisingly, I was out of there ten minutes later again, not having to fear a court session. "How?", I asked, not able to form more words. "You're lucky that colleague catching you was Minhyuk's bedroom neighbour in hospital for quite some time before my boyfriend got his single room. We got along quite well. Simply put, I gained his trust back then. I could persuade him that you really didn't know anything and he just took the watch and left without reporting you." "Thank you", I mumbled shyly. "Thank the fate", she gave back and locked eyes with me.

Yet again, they conveyed so much more than anyone else's. She really did communicate with her eyes more than with words. Disappointment, empathy, sorrow, worry, even a bit of guilt. As if she was guilty for anything here. "I took the whole day off after your call. In case you want to talk right now", she said. I didn't even need to answer, she already knew. Silently, she nodded and unlocked the car we had halted in front of. "Get in", she sighed as she did so herself.

We drove all the way in silence. Somehow, we both needed time to sort out our thoughts. As I stepped into her apartment, I looked around curiously. I caught her smile and realized we thought the same: Just like when she first saw my apartment. "Living room's over there", she told me, pointing to an open door, "I'll be right there." I nodded and trotted over.

Shouldn't I feel guilty for all that had happened today? I completely forgot to do so since we got into the car. She had my mind gotten off from feeling awful just by being there. I inspected the room. She had a good taste. The interior was simple, yet comfortable and everything seemed to tell visitors to just get comfortable and feel at home. I smiled without realizing it. Until it hit me that this must be the apartment she had lived in with Minhyuk. My smile faded.

She confirmed my thought as came in, two cups in her hand: "I'm not used to having somebody else except for Minhyuk here." She shrugged apologetically and placed the cups in front of me. Tea. I smiled again. Just like when I had taken her in. It even was the same tea, I realized. "But you're not the worst option", she smirked at me, making me snap out of my observations. I chuckled.

And then remembered why I ended up here in the first place. "Don't say that", I sighed, "I'm a thief, remember?" She raised her eyebrows disapprovingly. "Soobin, you are not", she said softly and put her hand on my arm, "Ari tricked you. And I believe your story. Why, after all, should you lie? At least you looked pitiful enough at the police station to fool me if you did. But jokes aside, I trust you in this. So, you aren't a thief, get it?" I shrugged. "What makes me so sure?", I asked crestfallen. She lifted my chin so that I would look at her. "Your eyes", she told me softly, "Your eyes tell me so much." I blinked confused and she chuckled. "You didn't expect that, huh?", she grinned and I sincerely shook my head. She shrugged: "Well, there's a reason why they say eyes are the window to your soul."
