I smiled endeared as I saw Ari's eyes sparkle when we entered the restaurant. Seeing her happy was worth the money, I guess. And she looked stunning in that knee-long black dress and her hair tied together elegantly, showing off those sparkly silver earrings. For a split second I asked myself how Kasumi might have dressed up for this occasion. Surely different, she was more the natural type. Maybe the hair open? Whatever. Why was I even thinking about her? "My Lady", I said and helped my girlfriend out of her jacket. "It's even better than I had imagined", she mumbled and then turned to me, "A gentleman should lead his woman inside, don't you think?" I still struggled with her jacket but nodded and quickly tossed it to the guy waiting next to us for taking over our wardrobe before offering her my arm and taking the remaining steps into the restaurant. "I have a reservation for Choi", I told the waiter and he led us to our table. I gulped as I looked at the menu. This surely was an expensive restaurant. But what did Minhyuk say to Kasumi on their first date? Only the best for her. I ordered wine for us and later on also the dishes.
I suppressed a sigh as I obediently paid, even giving a tip. Ari looked at me with a fond smile and then waited until I went over to her to pull her chair back and offer her my arm again. "You're so elegant, Soobin", she hummed, pecking my cheek. I blushed. "Only the best for you, Ari", I gave back and patted her hand. Back on the street, I opened the car door for her and took a deep breath before getting in myself. Silently we drove back. It was a weird silence but other than Kasumi Ari wasn't exactly quick at catching on someone's mood. She was too happy to pay attention, convinced I must be too. And I was. Kind of. Somehow. Something bothered me still as if my subconscious wanted to tell me something important but couldn't reach my brain. I shrugged it off. It probably was because Kasumi wanted to move and I surely would miss her. But it had been her decision and I was happy here with Ari so why care so much about that?
I kissed Ari in front of her door. "Good night, princess", I whispered into her ear. She smiled teasingly. "Haven't you forgotten about the second part of the deal?", she hummed and opened her door, taking my hand and pulling me inside. Oh, right. THAT part. Her lips landed on mine, almost too harsh and rushed. Her hands wrapped themselves around me and for the first time I found myself not enjoying it. Half-heartedly I kissed her back, but she didn't seem to realize it as her hands took off my jacket, just throwing it down to the floor. I tried to find the sensation her lips always had brought me but I just couldn't, not even as she started to unbutton my shirt slowly, her tongue moving perfectly in sync with mine. I pulled back and looked at her. She smiled seductively and I would lie saying she wouldn't look good, but it just... It didn't work on me this time. "Sorry, Ari, I think I am not in the mood", I told her apologetically.
Her face fell and she blinked confused. Her eyes weren't deep and enigmatic like Kasumi's. They were shallow and right now also filled with annoyance. Thinking about it, when was the last time her eyes looked as warm and loving as Kasumi's did all the time? "You gotta be kidding me", she exclaimed and made me snap out of it. I shrugged helplessly. Ari huffed and picked up my jacket. "Then leave already", she ordered me and opened the door again. And obediently once again, I did. When I tried to call Kasumi later to talk about literally anything, she didn't pick up. Just like the times I had tried it beforehand.

"I thought about it", Ari announced the next day in the car, on our way to work. I glimpsed over to her. "About what?", I asked. "About the embarrassment you gave me yesterday", she told me impatiently. "Which embarrassment?", I wanted to know, honestly puzzled. "You suddenly not being attracted by me anymore, dumbass", she sighed. "That was not about you", I opposed, "It was just... Not the right timing. You do look good Ari, you never did not." "Yeah, sure whatever", she waved it off, "There's something you could do for me to make up for it." "But I didn't even do anything wrong!", I protested. "Chill, it's nothing big", she told me while I parked the car in front of her company. I turned to her a bit annoyed. Wasn't the restaurant enough yesterday? It was enough for my wallet at least.
"See, my colleague promised me a watch she doesn't need anymore. She had put it on her desk, you just have to go and get it. Accompany me upstairs, will you? Then you can take it along with you right away. I wanted to give it to my mother for her birthday and as you may recall it's right around the corner so could you also bring it to the post office? I need to work overtime today." I raised an eyebrow. "If you don't want to do it for me, do it for my mum", Ari begged. I sighed and unbuckled my seat belt. "Whatever", I gave back and got out.
"I promise you won't regret doing that for me, I'll get back at you", Ari told me in her sweetest voice while clinging onto me. "I hope so", I muttered but she didn't hear it. She was way too distracted by something else already. "Over there", she said as we got off the elevator, "Just all the way down the hallway, last door on your right. I guess she's not there yet, but she said I could come and take the watch anytime, okay?" I nodded and she pecked my cheek. "Thanks, hon. You're the best", she chirped and left. I made my way to the office like she had described and carefully knocked on the door. If our relationship wouldn't get better after this, I didn't know what to do anymore. No one answered and I cautiously peeked inside. Nobody. My eyes found the watch she was talking about and feeling awkward, I entered. I looked at the watch. It looked expensive. Right down Ari's lane. With a shrug I took it and went out of the office again and down the hallway as I suddenly heard someone behind me: "Hey you, young men, wait a second."
