Sirius Black x Reader
[Theme: Students/Young Adult]
"He actually left?" I asked in shock to the boy before me who looked mildly bothered by the recollection.
"Stormed out when Mother was yelling at him. Seems he finally had enough." Regulus replied as the house-elf named Kreacher handed me a cup of tea.
"Thank you, Kreacher." I told the elf as he bowed away. "So what does that mean for the Black lineage?"
Our eyes drifted over to the Black family tree. Several portraits had been burned out from who Regulus's mother deemed to be blood traitors to the family. She had since blasted away what used to be Sirius's portrait...
"My cousins will likely be the ones who do most of the work. Though, that does make me the Black family's last eligible male."
I sipped on my tea as he spoke. I understood that Regulus and Sirius never had the best relationship but there was an air of sadness in his tone. It wasn't easy to lose a brother even if you didn't like each other. Most of the despair came from the acts of their mother playing favouritism toward Regulus.
Regulus followed through with the Black family's pure-blooded supremacist views. It was no secret how much he idolised Voldemort. It was because of those views that we fought before but we made up when he promised to never express those opinions around me. I understood I was a Parkinson which meant I was one of the pure-blooded families but I couldn't bring myself to support what was expected of my position.
That didn't stop Sirius from making assumptions. Being friends with Regulus, in Sirius's mind, made me as guilty as the other supremacists despite not believing the same views. It was because I was ignoring what was going on around me that apparently made me as guilty as if I believed it.
"Guess that means you'll need to find someone before your mother forces you into a marriage." I remarked as I realised my parents were probably planning the same thing soon. Even if we were still young...
"You and I could married." Regulus said much to my shock.
"I- Regulus! You shouldn't say things like that! Besides, you're pretty popular and you're attractive enough to pick up basically any girl you want!" I protested and almost spilt a bit of my tea.
"Think about it, Y/N. We're friends, we get along with each other most of the time and you're one of the very few people my mother can stand. Maybe we don't love each other but that could change and it will always be better than whatever our parents can arrange." he explained and I knew he had a point. The thought of getting stuck with someone much older and cranky made me shiver.
I turned to him and gave him a small smile. "Yeah... Yeah! Okay, we can do it once we graduate." I agreed with excitement.

Our engagement became official to all once Sirius graduated the following year so that we wouldn't have to deal with his oppressiveness. I never disliked Sirius but it was always uncomfortable being around him. He was boisterous to a fault and he looked at me with disgust at times. Whether Sirius would be invited to our wedding was a point of contention. Regulus and I wanted him to come but Walburga, the Black brothers' mother, made it her mission to prevent him from coming.
In the end, I suppose whether he was going to come or not meant nothing. Much to my disagreement, Regulus became a Death Eater. He knew I disapproved but there was little I could do to change his mind. All I received as his fianceé was the sudden letter that he had disappeared with Kreacher and wouldn't be back for a few days. It explained almost nothing.
