Cedric Diggory x Reader

[Theme: Student]

What are you supposed to do...

"L/N! L/N!" a feminine voice called from behind me as I walked through the corridor at Hogwarts.

"Just ignore her. Maybe she'll just go by..." I told myself, followed by a sharp inhale to bite my tongue.

The girl, who I had to suppose was someone in the year below, ran at full speeds to jump in front of me. They were getting more desperate... and harder to evade.

"You're L/N, right?" she asked with an excited look on her face.

"Who's asking?" I replied impatiently. I was tired of these girls.

"Bethany Betta. I heard that you're best friends with Cedric Diggory..." she trailed off but shook her head to gain confidence. "I was wondering if you could ask me out for him!"

...when your best friend is the most popular boy at school?

And here's another girl who, for some strange reason, thinks it sensible to waste my time and go through me to get to Cedric instead of asking him out themselves.

I put on my most daring smile and held in the urge to say words that I'll surely regret. "Sure. I'll tell him." I rarely ever did.

She actually had to audacity to squeal and hug me. Oh, I've never felt so violated in my entire life.

"Thank you!" She peered over my shoulder and her eyes went wide. "There he is! Make sure you tell him!" Then, she turned around and ran away.

Cedric had an air of modesty and charm. It was understandable why so many people developed crushes on him but, as his best friend, I suffered for it.

"Hey, Y/N. How is everything?" he asked with a gentle smile on his face. Many of the stragglers were now keenly aware of his presence.

I shrugged and tried to brush off my previous encounter. "Fine, I suppose. Though, you have an admirer again."

He raised his eyebrow as if to ask 'who?' but he looked over me and saw Betta peering from behind the column.

"If I had to hazard a guess, I reckon that would be her?" he said and gave her a wave. She let out a "gaaaah!" and fled.

My fist pressed against my forehead for the headache approaching was going to be intolerable soon. "You'd be right. Honestly, Cedric, can you stop being so handsome so girls stop trying to make me ask you out for them?"

"You think I'm handsome, do you?" he teased with a laugh.

I flicked his arm to which he recoiled in mild shock. "Ugh, no. They find you handsome, not me."

So what if it was a lie and I had been in love with him for the past two years? It's not like he needed to know. That would damage our friendship too much.

"You wound me, Y/N. Shall I see you after practice?" he said and made his way to his original destination.

"I'll be waiting."

I sat upside-down on my bed and let out a frustrated sigh. Another event went past of having to deal with Cedric's constant wave of crushers and having to pretend I wasn't one of them.

"Whatcha doing, Y/N?" my best friend, Rory, chimed in and jumped to the side of my bed. Her sudden cannonball almost launched me up. I sat up to avoid her crushing me.

"Watch it, Rory! Merlin, for being the older sister, you're as bad as Red." I exclaimed but she took no notice.

"I know that look." She pressed her finger under my chin to force me to look at her. "You're thinking about Cedric againnnnn.~" she sang.
