Hello! Sorry about the radio silence. I had a bit of a break for my mental health but I should be back and ready to continue writing again!

Also, an extra thank you to the people who took my demographic survey! Your words and feedback mean a lot to me and I'll be taking everything into consideration. There were definitely a few responses that have given me things to think about so I really appreciate it.

Newt Scamander x Reader

[Theme: Young Adult]

Diagon Alley was always one of the more interesting aspects of the wizarding world to me. People from all different backgrounds would stroll through each day. You could go past a Curse Breaker preparing their next expedition abroad for Gringotts. Perhaps sometime after, you would see a higher-up Ministry worker trying to discreetly stuff their pockets with sweets for their child at home. There was no end to the amount of chaos that could go on in this one twisted- metaphorically and literally- street.

That was what I loved about it. Today was no exception to that rule of seeing incredibly strange individuals. Going past the buzzing shops, I noticed loud noises and tightly packed encasements of people prodding around Flourish and Blotts. In the windows were bright banners that read 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Re-Release Event!'

"Hmm..." I hummed to myself as I wandered past. For a brief moment, I did consider going inside to have a look. Meeting Newt Scamander would be an honour, but not at the risk of getting my toes trampled into oblivion.

As I brushed past, I could hear more murmurings of witches and wizards while they clutched several versions of his book to their chests. Some of them were so excited that their voices had gone ear piercingly high.

"Did you hear!?" a rather elated witch yelled over the crowd to her much smaller friend, "Mister Scamander might be looking for an assistant!"

The other witch pulled her friend's hand and made her lean down to meet her face, "Quiet down! Do you want everyone to know the news?" she hissed, unaware that she was now speaking just as loud as her friend.

"I do hope he picks me! When I ask him to sign my book, I'm going to show him my... best sides." She did some form of sickeningly unattractive pose that involved pressing her lips together so tightly it could pop a button. Being famous isn't all it's cracked up to be; how can Newt stand it?

Wandering along past the crowd, I thought for a split second that I saw a tall brunet man dash through the crowd. His long blue coat and patterned scarf fluttered behind him as he ran, making people lurch back to avoid getting hit by the trails.

"Sorry!" he yelled over the top of everyone, "Please let it still be there-"

Nothing atypical for Diagon Alley. How many stories had I heard about people leaving something on a bench when they sit down and wind up having to buy it back from a peddler in Knockturn Alley who so happened to 'stumble' upon the object in question?

Getting near the end of the street, the crowd dispersed into fine pockets of individuals and groups, making it much easier to get through. I considered having a look for new lanterns; the one that I had in my window at home was getting a bit rusty. Being a witch, it would be no hassle to use a de-rusting spell... or I could use the opportunity to buy myself an upgrade.

The window was filled with models of every type of material and shape. New shoppers would likely find the collection overwhelming but it was like a showcase catalogue to me. Catalogue... A faint meow made my ear twitch. I ignored it and continued to look but the calls of this creature felt like it was luring me in.
