I was dreaming, this could not be happening so I had to be dreaming, I couldn't be totally helpless I whimpered in my head as my mother beat me mercilessly. I couldn't even hear my screams anymore, they were all just a continuous blur of noise. I could hear my friends banging on the door trying to get in.

She would make sure they wouldn't tell I thought. My mother hit well, knowing where would bruise and where wouldn't. No one would know, there would be no bruises marks or scratches. Only my silent tears as I went about my normal day.

She left me there, crumpled up on the floor whimpering and crying to myself, as my father had done to her only the night before. The words "I'm going to make your life sheer hell for it" whirled around my head, only now did they hold any value, any meaning. I could hear my mother outside the door, telling my friends that I had deserved it, giving them money so they wouldn't tell, and permitting them to come in and console me..... Slowly I came crashing back down to reality, and I began to feel again.

"Oh Samantha!" Jasmine exclaimed as she collapsed next to me and began to look me over. Emmett stood by the door, almost like a guard, making sure my mother didn't come back for round two. The look of pain on his face brought me back to the realization of what had just happened. I slowly crawled over to my dressing table mirror and hauled myself up onto my chair. When I looked at myself though I felt a pang of surprise.

My face was a flawless as it was this morning when I left for school, not a mark or a bruise. But however, as I unbuttoned my school blouse, not even caring that Emmett could see everything, You could see the purple and green bruising where my mother had kicked and punched me. All over my sides and my breasts. There was a throbbing all over me. It hurt to even breath.

I sat there in a daze looking at what my own mother had done to me. I felt sick to the bone, as my father and Jonathan rushed into my room. I noticed my green eyes were filled with tears, some of them had spilled over onto my cheeks. Never before, had I felt so helpless, even with Jonathan and my father standing behind me.

"Samantha, was this your mother who did this to you?" My father asked. I didn't reply. That's when he grabbed my shoulders and spun me around so fast I lost my balance and nearly fell to the floor. The only thing keeping me upright was my father. "WAS THIS YOUR MOTHERS DOING? YES OR NO?" he screamed at me. I knew he would kill her. But all the same I nodded desolately. He told Jonathan to take me and proceeded to go and find my mother. But just as he was about to leave the room he stopped and turned to look at Emmett.

He looked at him confused, then finally stuttered "What's your name boy?" Emmett squared up and stuttered out " My name is Emmett Alex Rosewood" My father gasped, so he did know who he was. He walked back and sat down on my bed. He looked down for a moment, and when he looked up a  new light entered his eyes. "My son, you've returned" He stood up and opened his arms. Emmett with tears in his eyes ran forward to hug my father, I'd never seen two men quite so happy before.

"NO" We all spun around to the doorway to see my mother. On her face was a clear urge to kill....
