"Carl. Stop. That tickles!" I say falling off of my bed laughing. "Ow." I say rubbing my head. "Oh my god are you okay?" he asks pretending to check my sides but just tickling me. "Caaaaarrrrrllll!" I say laughing. I fall down and I try to lift myself up but I accidently pull Carl on top of me. We are in a very awkward position. "What are you two doing in here?" Daryl says walking in. "Nothing." Carl says standing up. "Well does your dad know your doing 'nothing' in here." Daryl asks sarcastically. "Actually-" Carl starts. "Actually." Rick interrupts. "Good luck boy." Daryl says patting Carl on the shoulder and walking out of the cell. "You two were supposed to be out farming and helping Carol." Rick says. "Sorry sir. We'll go right now." I say pulling Carl out with me. "CAROL!!!!!" I call. "OVER HERE!" I hear her voice call back. "Meet me in the field when your done." Carl says giving me a quick hug and walking in the opposite direction. I run to find Carol. "There you are." she says putting down the bucket in her hands. "Hey sorry. I lost track of time. So what do you need me to do?" I say looking at her. She looks around then back at me. "Well now i'm done." she says giving a slight laugh. I return the gesture. I run to see Carl walking toward the field. I run faster and accidently run into him. He falls over and I fall with him. We lay side by side in the grass. He grabs my hand and squeezes it tight. "What's your story? How did you end up here?" he asks looking at me. "Well um. Things weren't working out too well at home. My parents were always fighting. On top of that my dad always came home drunk and angry. He took that anger out on me. He beat me. Yelled at me. Teased me. It was awful. At school I was bullied. Kids would pull my hair. Spit on me. Push me into the lockers. I barely made it through." I say holding back my tears as the pain comes flooding back. "I'm sorry. I didn't know it was that hard for you." he says looking at me with his big blue eyes. "It's not like you knew. Anyway. The day it all started I was walking home from school with my friend Josh. We saw someone staggering across the street towards a homeless woman sleeping on the street. We walked over to check on them and when got to them the man turned around and he was missing some of his face and had bite marks on is neck and arm. The man toward us and the woman stood up and walked towards us very quickly. The woman had a bite mark on her neck and leg. They both looked dead. I had remembered on the news that morning people said there was a strange virus going around.  I grabbed my textbook and hit the creature over the head. Josh had already killed the other one. We ran to our houses now becoming aware of what was happening. Josh ran into his house and I bolted into mine. I ran in to find my parents and sisters on the couch watching the news. I told them to grab knives and screwdrivers. As soon as I finished my statement the news anchor exclaimed 'This is not a drill. Evacuate the city immediately. Grab any weapons you can to defend yourselves and leave the city.' so me and my family grabbed as many weapons as we could and ran out of the house." I am interrupted by the sound of vehicles pulling up and a man screaming. "RICK! I KNOW YOUR THERE! GIVE UP THE PRISON AND NO ONE GETS HURT!" I stand up at the wrong time and feel a sharp pain run through my leg. All I hear is Carl's voice screaming my name frantically as I fall to the ground and my eyes shut.
