As we sat down, the others we're eager to ask us how it went with the dishes.
"Did you guys enjoy cleaning?" One of the dudes asked.
"Oh YES, WE HAD SO MUCH FUN." Raphael rolls his eyes sarcastically.
We all shift into laughter by Raphael's expressions, he had a way to express himself like that.
"Let's see how you do tomorrow, since it'll be your turn." Childlike expression of Raphael's.
while the topic was still going on, all of the sudden my eyes shift to Joey, totally unintentionally.
I noticed that he was staring at me as well, or so I thought, and as soon as we happen to make eye contact, he looks elsewhere, somehow pretending as if he wasn't just looking at me seconds ago.
I started to feel nervous as heck, I began to look on the opposite direction as my hands were slowly shaking while putting them through my hair, trying to make my moves seem as natural as possible. However I could not sit still.
"What if he knew, or, what if he began to have an idea about me?
He would definitely avoid me at all costs then." I kept thinking to myself.
I began to feel worried about it, an uneasy feeling because I did not come here to make people uncomfortable. I came to befriend and enjoy time with teenagers the same age as me.
I was fighting with my thoughts back and forth and I totally forgot that I was around people for a hot second.
"Hey, Tim, Tim. Timmy Tim Timmo! Are you okay? You seem kind of lost." Raphael waves with both of his hands trying to get my attention like one of those inflatable tube men at a gas station.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just got off focus a little, it's nothing." I responded. I even gave away a smile to reassure that everything was alright. They seemed to believe me so the attention shifted towards the topic of school.
I just kept listening to their rants about the people there, the grades they were getting, which teacher was helpful and which was a total asshole. Pretty much anything related to school.
The topic of crushes once again sparked interest, inside I sighed loudly. But this time, the guys were being clever by telling the others that they don't have crushes.
Of course the girls were suspicious of them because they were literally HORRENDOUS liars. But you could say they tried.
The question came upon me too, I just responded quickly and calmly.
"I don't know, I don't have any." Saying that with a poker face gave me extra points I guess. And I think for sure they believed me.
The guys looked at me and we're giving me that Proud Father kind of look while softly nodding. They were acting as if I learned this lying technique from them.
All of the sudden, we hear a voice through the megaphone calling up to us.
"Okay now guys, let's start to slowly gather to the main hall, we're going to start with activities now so we need each and everyone of you guys to be in the main hall by the time we begin.
Will 10 to 15 minutes be alright for everyone?" Said one of the camp counselors who was holding the megaphone.
We all agreed and we slowly went to each take a seat in the main hall, this time I happen to sit next to Joey, whom was sat on the right side of mine and another girl I didn't get to know at the time was sat on the left side, we just smiled and waved at each other awkwardly, but I guess it was fine. As long as I tried to be friendly and not create inapproachable unnecessary barriers, it'll be all just swell.
