scarlet woke up again, this time because wolf was mumbling and twitching in his sleep. his eyes moved restlessly beneath his eyelids and his breathing quickened. he began to whimper, murmuring her name. "scarlet. no. scarlet!" she caressed his face and spoke to him soothingly. "i'm right here. i'm not going anywhere. it's okay." his eyes snapped open, fear written across his face. seeing scarlet in his arms, he relaxed and nuzzled his face into her chest. he pulled her closer. scarlet murmured "it's okay. i'm right here" and squeezed him. "it was just a dream." she rubbed his back and kissed the top of his head. as they lay there, his breaths slowed, but scarlet felt his tears stain her shirt.
