scarlet gasped, yanking up on the controls. "i'm sorry!" wolf whispered, pulling his hands away and settling in his chair, further from the dashboard. "it's okay," scarlet said as her hands dashed across screens and buttons, righting the ship. "try it again. this time, make sure to press this button" she gestured as she talked, "and don't pull so hard on the yoke. it's all about control." wolf didn't make any indication that he wanted to try again. scarlet looked over at him, feeling the shame radiating off him in waves. "it's seriously okay. you're learning. nothing's broken; we're both okay. try not to stress so much." she poked him in the ribs, attempting to lighten the mood. she thought she saw his eyes lighten, but she blinked and they had dulled again. maybe it was a trick of the light. "here," she said, grabbing one of his hands and placing it on the control. she placed her hand over his, guiding the ship. "it's not so bad." he looked just as embarrassed and worried as before but didn't try to move away, worried he would mess things up again. keeping her hand where it was, she stood up and sat on his lap to reach the controls better. she pulled his other hand to the other side of the steering column, placing her hand over his as she had before. "it'll just take some practice. if you ever need me, i'll be right here." wolf sat up a little straighter in his seat, his grip tightening on the yoke.
