I walked into district 21 and walked up to the desk. "Hi, I'm looking for Detective Halstead." I tell the lady. "Good for you." She says. "Excuse me?" "You heard me." I showed her my badge on my pant line. "Oh, sorry." She points me to the gate and buzzed me up. I walked up the stairs and was met with desks. " And you are?" I was asked. I showed him my badge and he backed down a little. "Detective Halstead, just transferred here for NYPD." I tell him. "Wait Halstead, Jay...?" "Twin." I tell him. "Speaking of Jay. Where is he?" I ask. "Lounge, right over there." I walked over to find him talking to a woman. "I really hope I'm not interrupting something." "Ava!" Jay ran over to me and pulled me into a hug. "Gross, cooties." I laugh. "Erin, this is my younger sister Ava." "You're two minutes older then me." I groan. "What are you doing here?" He asks. "I transferred, I needed to be back home." I tell him. "Well let's get you a desk." He says and pulled me to a desk. "Well, I'm thankful but all my stuff is at my apartment." "Have you told Dad, and Will that your back." "No to the first and yes to the second." I tell him. "Call dad." I nod knowing I wouldn't do it. "Alright listen up." A guy says entering. "Got a name on those dope deaths. It's a dealer named Rev on south emerald. As soon as Olinsky gets here, we're gonna..." "Over here." A man says as he pops out from beside a box on the desk. "Hey." "Hey, Alvin." The guy says then sees me. "Who is she?" He asks. "Detective Ava Halstead, transferred from NYPD. And you are?" I ask. "Ava, behave." Jay warns me. "Hank Voight, I'm in charge of intelligence." He tells me. "Halstead?" "Twin." I tell him. "Please continue." "We're gonna set up a controlled buy-- Halstead's you in the doorway let's see what you can do." Voight tells us as he looks at me. "Do not go inside." "All right one more thing we've been doing this what, two months? Now more then ever, we keep everything in house. Understand? I don't care how they run other departments or how you came up. This is intelligence... my unit. You tell me the truth so I can lie for you. And if you go over my head, it'll be the last head you go over. Everybody goes home tonight." Voight tells us then walked into his office. "He's delightful." I tell Jay. I rode with Jay to the apartment and he knocked on the door. "Rev, open up!" He yells. "Hey! You mind keeping it down?" A neighbor says coming out of his apartment. "Am I banging on your door?" Jay asks him. "No, then go back inside." "Rev, open up!" Jay yells again. "I'm going out on a limb here. Rev might not be home." Dawson says over the radio. "Come on, man!" Jay yells and the door opens. "What?" A man answers the door. "Yeah, is Rev here?" Jay asks him. "No, so quit pounding on the door." He tells us as he goes to close the door and Jay stops him. "My girl she's going into rehab tomorrow. Wants to go out with a bang tonight. Rev usually hooks me up." The man just looks at us. "You ever been to rehab man? It sucks." Jay tells him. I look over Jay's shoulder to see blood on the man's pants. "Come in." The suspect tells us. Jay pretends to walk in and I grabbed his arm. "We'll come back when Rev's here." I tell him. "You've been up my ass for two hours about scoring some "H."" Jay says. "Well I changed my mind." I sass. "Mujeres, right." Jay says and the man shuts the door and we walk back to the others. "It was blood on his pants that and the fact that we don't know that guy..." "Let's go in." Voight says. "No. Cause maybe it looked like blood? That's not probable cause to force an entry." Willhite tells us. "He could have been marinating a chicken and spilled barbecue sauce on his pants." Dawson tells us. "We've got three O.D.s traced back to the heroin Revs moving. You want to wait for another kid to die?" Voight asks him. "We'll do a knock and talk, alright? Whoever's in control of the apartment gets all squirrelly, we'll take it from there." Alvin tells us. "I feel like Voight doesn't like me." I tell Jay but before he could answer gunshots went off and I hid behind a car and drew my gun. "Get the long guns." Voight tells us and I pull one from the back of the car and we make our way in. We knocked the door in and entered. "Body." I called out as I stepped into the bathroom then into the living room. "Call it in clear the rest of the building." Voight tells our back up officers we all hear a noise come from a closet and Willhite opened it as we aimed at a young kid. We lowered our weapons and cuffed him then drove back to the precinct. "So that was fun." I tell Jay and he gives a look. "Working together, like before I moved." I tell him. "Yeah, have you called dad?" He asks. "I texted Will and told him to have him call me if he wanted to takl." I tell him. "Ava..." "Jay, do you remember what he said to me? He told me that I was a disappointment and that I would never make it as a cop." I tell him. "I remember." He says pulling into the building. Dawson was about to explain the suspect when my kids school called. "Sorry I have to take this." I tell him and he nodded. "Hello." I say answering the phone. "Mrs. Halstead, this is Collen John from Summers school. She got into a fight today." "Is she ok?" I asks. "She's fine." He tells me. "I don't understand why you didn't call her mother." I tell him. "That's the thing. We found signs of child abuse CPS is going to be removing her from the home." "What kind of abuse?" I ask as my heart skips. "Only physical. Thankfully." He tells me. "Well, I'm in Chicago so it's going to take me a while to get up there." I tell him. "She will be placed with a foster family till you can be here." He tells me. "Alright I'll be there soon." I hang up and sigh.
