"Mom!" Summer yells as she runs towards me. "Hey, pumpkin. How was your day?" "We got to bake cookies." She jumps up and down. "Thank you for watching her." "No problem, have a nice night." Melody tells me and we walk up to our apartment. "You start school tomorrow." I tell her. "No!" She whines. "Sorry but you have too." I tell her. My phone rang and I answered it. "Hello." "Ava, we need you at Union station." "Summer honey, I need you to get ready." "I'll drop Summer off at the precinct and meet you there." I tell Voight. "Alright." I dropped Summer of upstairs with Burgess and Atwater and then head to the bus station. I walked into the station and made my way to the others who were in the main lobby. "Everyone fan out, he's got to be here somewhere." Dawson says. "Halstead the younger, you here." Voight asks. "I'm here." I tell him over the radio. "I see him. Porting a bus for Indianapolis." Erin's voice came through, I was by the busses, so I walked over to her. "Wait for us." Voight tells us. "Come on." Erin tells me and I follow her on. The bus driver gave us a look and we showed her our badges and she let us on. We found different seats to watch our guy. I texted Jay that I was on the bus with Erin. My phone dinged a few minutes later it was Jay telling me to wait 10 minutes. "Looks like we're having engine trouble, folks. I'm gonna pull the bus over and take a look." The bus driver says over the speakers then the bus stopped. "I've already called another bus to take you on your way, so it should be here in a minute or two. Don't worry. Here comes the back up bus now, folks. Apologize for any inconvenience." "All right, we're sorry for the delay, folks, but we got a tried and true new out here that'll get you were you're going right away. Now, what I need from all of you is to disembark, grab your luggage, and head on over to the next bus in a orderly fashion. Can you do that for me?" Alvin says getting on the bus. Everyone grabbed their stuff and exited. Everyone but the guy got up so Erin singled me to fallow her. "Hey. So what happed to the engine?" Erin asks. "Drop the gun!" I yell out as I see it in his hand then he held it to the kids head. "Lindsay, Halstead, hold on." Adam's voice comes over the radio. The bus lunged forward and the kid fell into Erin's arms. "On the ground!" I yell at the man and then shots are fired and the guy falls to the ground. I got off the bus and Jay pulled me into a hug. "I'm proud of you." He tells me. "I love you too." I smile at him. "I need to get home and I think you should meet Summer again." I tell him. "I'll give you a ride." He says. I got my car from the bus station. I walk upstairs and see Burgess talking with Summer. "Uncle Jay!" Summer runs to hug him. "Look how big you've gotten." "Alright, you got school in the morning." I tell Summer and we say bye to Jay and head home. After dropping Summer off at school the next morning I went to Willhites funeral then headed to work. I was at my desk waiting for the others to arrive. "Todays the 21st." I hear Jay say. "Yeah it usually follows the 20th what's up?" Erin asks and I give Jay a look knowing why he was upset. "All right, there are two unrelated wire investigations. Surveillance followed three of Area central's top-ranking targets to this house on Carpenter. Narcotics hasn't gotten anywhere with it, so command staff want's intelligence on it. Roll out in 5." Voight tells us. "We got the main eye." Alvin tells us. "We're set up to the north." Dawson says. "10-4 we got the south and a partial of the alley." Jay says. "If anyone goes mobile from the house, we're in position for a take away." Dawson tells us. "O and Ruzek, move closer see if there's any movement in the house." Voight tells them. "Hold up we got company." Erin tells us. "Who's this joker?" Dawson asks. "Gun!" Jay yells and I draw mine as I get out of the car and walked inside beside Jay. "Hoodies dead." Voight tells us. "This ones alive." Jay says seeing the one on the ground and Al call for an ambulance. "We need to put pressure on the wound or he'll bleed out." I put gloves on and held pressure on the wound. After we finished up and wasn't even sat at my desk before I got a phone call from Summers school that she got into a fight. I walked into the office and gave Summer a look. "I'm here to pick up Summer." "Here's a packet of her school work. She's suspended for three days." The principal tells me and we got in the car. "Mom, he started it." She tries. "Enough." I tell her and call Will who was visiting from New York. "Ava, what up?" "I need you to watch Summer she got suspended from school." "Yeah not a problem." He says. "Thanks, see you in a moment." I hang up and the ride was silent. "Dad here?" I ask Will as he opened Summers door. "Yeah." He tells me. "Just make sure to watch Summer around him." I tell him. "I will." He says and I got back in the car and drove back to work. I got stuck in traffic so it took me about 30 minutes to get back. "So what I miss." "Not much." Jay says as he fills me in. "Jay, please don't go crazy today I know today sucks but keep it calm." I tell him. "That sick bastard killed Ben." He tells me. "I know."
