James' hot older brother

*knocks at the door & waits*

"Who is it?" I hear the voice of my aunt Becky shout from inside

"It's y/n!" I say excitedly then watch as the door opens

"Heyy! How are you? How's your mom?" She asks letting me in & greeting me with a hug

"I'm good, she's okay too." I smile seeing my cousin Lena come up to me

"Hiii!" We both squeal in excitement

"Come!" She says as we pull away and I nod following her to her room

"Wassup?" I ask looking around her for a second then sitting down on her bed

"So you remember that one boy James from school?" She asks sitting on her chair by the vanity

"That lil light skin smart aleck with the baby voice & the blue beanie?" I ask making a face

"Omg you're so mean!" She laughs

"What? I was just asking." I lightly chuckle

"Well, we're a thing now.." she trails off in a soft tone

"—Oh." I look at her to see if she's serious

"How-" she cuts me off

"It was at the park the other day. He bought some ice cream then came up to me & asked me if I wanted some then I was like 'yeah' and he said 'okay, on one condition though' and I was a lil sus but still asked him what the deal was, in curiosity.  Then he said 'be my girl & I'll give you this ice cream'." She says as I cringe a little

"Then I laughed a little but he was serious asf. I told him 'James, you do know that ice cream's just melting away in your hand right?' But he still wouldn't budge so that's when I knew he was frr and yea." She finishes as I nod

"Ykw I didn't know what to expect but this—was not it." I say

"Girl." She playfully rolls her eyes

"But anyway, turns out he has a really hot older brother named Bobby who's single by the way." She says

"Uh—" I cringe at the thought of 'Bobby' looking like James

"Look I got his phone number the other day and—" Okay okay I see what she's trynna do here

"Nope." I say

"But Y/—"

"No." I fold my arms & cross my legs looking at her

"C'mon you're both single. And you haven't even dated anyone since—"

"Don't. Ever mention his name thank you. And I'm just not flattered by an older looking James." I shrug

"Uhn uhn they're brothers but don't get it twisted. They look almost nothing alike." She says and I furrow my eyebrows in confusion

"Trust me. When I say Bobby's fine. I mean he's fine asf!!" She says & I can feel her words slowly persuading me although I'm still a bit skeptical

"How fine?" I ask raising an eyebrow and watch her sigh then come over and pick up the phone

"Uh Lena what are you—" she picks up the phone

"Doing you a favor." She says and we quiet down as we hear the phone dialling

"Hello? Etterlene DeBarge speaking from the DeBarge residence God Bless." We hear a woman's voice say in a singsong tone & I look over at Lena wide eyed as to tell her to speak

"Hi Mrs DeBarge! This is Lena, James' girlfriend.." she says with a confident grin

"Oh, hi sweetie how are you? James is upstairs with Randy & El, hold on." Mrs DeBarge says

"Oh okay." She says politely

*a few minutes later*

"Is that—BOBBY!" We hear James shout as the front door slams

"What?" We hear another male voice say in the background

"Lena wanna talk to you!" James says as we hear other footsteps approaching

"Oh." He says taking the phone from James

"This Bobby, wassup?" He says as I get a lil nervous looking at Lena who smirks back at me

"Heyy! How are you?" She cheerfully asks

"Great actually, just came from the neighbour's garage.. She needed me to fix the lightbulbs yk?" He says

"Ohh." She replies

"Yeah, turns out the light circuit in her power box was turned off this whole time... Waste of time but worth the extra money. How you been though??" He asks

"Good thanks! You know... I have a lamp that needs fixing too! It's very expensive too... You think maybe you could stop by and fix it?" She says as I look at her confused

"Uhh—"Bobby says unsure before Lena cuts him off

"But that's fine you don't have the time I guess..." she plays innocent

"But we don't even have a broken lamp—" I whisper and she grabs her Himalayan Salt Lamp & throws it

"Now we do." She grins as I stare in shock

"Uh yeah sure, what time??" He asks

"In an hour if possible." She says hopefully

"Yeah yeah no problem I'll be there." He says assuringly

"Great! Tell James I said I'll come over later." She finishes

"Yea dw, bye bye." He says

"See you later." She says before hanging up

"What was that??" I ask her giggling

"That was me getting youuu a date." She says proudly

"A date?" I ask raising an eyebrow playfully

"Yep! Because guess what?" She says

"What??" I ask

"I—am going out with my mama while you stay here with Bobby." She smirks

"Lena wtf!" I playfully whine throwing a pillow at her

"You're welcome!" She puckers her lips as I shake my head

"Well, I hope he's as good looking as you say his is... Better yet I hope he has a good personality." I say with a sigh

"Don't worry you'll be fine." She chuckles nudging me
