November 3rd 1978
It was 3:27 am, when, I was abruptly awoken from my sleep by loud knocking and hollering, coming from the front door of my apartment.
I sat up agitated, as my heart pounded and my chest heaved up and down. Hearing small cries echo throughout the apartment, I tiredly stood up and made my way in the kids' room.
As I walked to their door, the hollering became more evident and the knocking sounded louder.
"Mommy!!!" The kids all came waddling out of their little beds in their PJs.
My 5 year old daughter Renée was the first to hug me, as she cried feeling scared. Louis and Bobby Jr, 2, followed right behind, "Momma, who at da dou?" Little Louis curiously questioned, looking up at me with his chocolate doe eyes.
I pulled away from Renée and kneeled down to hug my little boys comfortingly. "I don't know baby, but I'm gonna go check. You 3 stay in here okay?" I looked between him and Jr, then up at Renée. They soon nodded and a wave of little yawns was heard, as I stood back up.
I then made my way out again and closed their door behind me. Lord give me strength to deal with this man.
See, not only had I encountered Bobby when he came back from Akron, after White Heat disbanded in "75. We ended up having a short-lived romance, due to his move to Cali in early "77. In the process, I gave birth to twin boys in "76.
I sighed as I approached the front door and began to hesitantly unlock it. Is this really happening?
"Y/N!!" I heard him shout once more.
In a matter of seconds, the door flew open and before me stood a distressed Bobby.
"Bobby, what is the matter with you? Don't you know what time it is?" I glared up at him. Without speaking a word, he embraced me in a hug, which caught me off guard.
"Y/n, it's so good to see you." He casually started.
"Motown's stressing me out man. Jermaine and Hazel been trying to put me and Greg against each other and they going behind Greg's back. They offered me and Tommy solo contracts to start a new band.." He rambled stressed.
I placed a hand on my hip. "You flew all the way here, just to come to my door at 3 in the morning, whining about Motown?" I rhetorically asked then sighed in disbelief.
"No that's just the start, I got evicted and I can't stay at my mom's cuz Chico, James, Peaches & Dakey and Papi all live there. Plus Papi said no." I sighed, letting him in.
I then closed the door afterwards, still skeptically eyeing him. "Bobby, what are you really here for?" I whispered so the kids wouldn't hear. He's probably trying to score pills.
"What, I can't come see my woman and kids from time to time?" He whispered back while kicking his shoes off.
I raised a brow at him, folding my arms over my chest.
"Okay fine! So, I really did get evicted, matter of fact, they kicked me out on the street last night and I'm intending on staying here until I find a new place. I won't be trouble, if it makes it easier I'll pay the rent myself." He looked at me in seriousness.
I took slight offense to that last part.
"Bobby, I'm not a charity case, I don't need your money." I pointed between us.
"I wasn't sa-What you can do, is be here for the kids." I moved away from him, locking the front door.
"I know and I will." He put his loafers in the shoe rag and started to follow me around.
