"Mum!" Grace called. "Can we go to the library?""You guys spend all your spare time in the library." Mum teased.
"We love the library." 17 year old Joy came up behind her little sister.
"Fine. You can go."
Grace turned to Joy. "You get the cousins. I'll get our brothers." Joy nodded and headed towards the back door. Grace thought for a moment. Andy could be in the yard, teaching Mark how to fight. AKA; Andy beating the living daylights out of Mark (They did this quite often). Or they could be in their room; doing the same thing. Or they could be planning a prank, doing a prank, waiting for someone to find their prank or over at their cousins house, doing one or all of those things. Flying monkeys, brothers are confusing. Eventually, though, Grace decided to check their room.
That was where she found them, 'wrestling'. 15 year old Andy was sitting on 12 year old Mark shouting "Do you yield!?" and Mark was shouting "No!" while hitting at Andy's back in a feeble attempt to get him off.
"If your quite finished sitting on your brother, we're going to the library." Grace said, after watching them for a few minutes.
"Coming." Andy got off Mark. "I totally won."
Mark stood up. "Did not. I never said 'I yield'."
"You just did." Grace commented.
"What?" Mark screeched, as Andy said "Ha!"
"Common. Let's go." The 13 year old ran out the front door and over too their cousins house. Grace really loved her cousins being their next door neighbour on the right. She pounded on the door. Her 11 year old cousin Ann opened it.
"What's taking so long?" Grace asked.
Ann rolled her eyes. "David won't wake up again."
"It's 10 o'clock. Has he been sleeping all morning?"
"Basically. He woke up, ate breakfast, then went back to bed."
Grace pushed past Ann and made her way to the room 9 year old David shared with 10 year old Alex. Joy, Alex, Aunt Debbie and Uncle Jerry were standing around David who was sleeping on his bed with no sheets. Grace spotted them on the floor. She sighed. Did they not know how to wake up a sleeping child?
"Have you thrown water on him?" Grace asked.
"Yes." Joy answered.
"Did you hit him?"
"Yes."
"Punch him?"
"Yes."
"Kick him?"
"Yes."
"Then I'll have to use my secret weapon."
As Grace walked up to David, Aunt Debbie said, "Don't hurt him any more."
"I won't." Grace bent down and yelled "CHEESECAKE" in his ear.
"Where?" David sat up so fast, he hit his head on the top bunk.
"Fantastic. Your awake. We're going to the library. You have 5 minutes." As everyone filed out of his room, they heard him say "Why am I all wet?"
5 minutes and 30 seconds! later, they were finally on the road. When they got to the library, they went to their favourite section. Dragons! They were just sitting down to read when the library door crashed open.
"Great. Just what we need." Joy commented. "An 'honourable' visit from mister dipstick and co."
"Grace. Maybe today you can put aside our differences and finally date me." Robert said.
Grace sighed. She just wanted one day without Robert. Was that so much to ask?
Yes, yes it was.
