The sun shined over her brown hair. Adrian watched her resting over the hammock on the boat reading something. It was their second day on the boat. "What are you reading? Is it interesting?" He asked trying to take a peek. She looked up from her book and at him.
"A murder mystery. I love reading murder mysteries and other mystery novels. A pastime and a habit I picked from my father." She told him. "So, you are not only a crime reporter but you also love crime novels. Interesting, how I keep finding a piece of new information about you every single day Miss Roy."
"What are you going to use this information now Mr. Knight, now that you know I love a mystery?" "I will see if you can solve one ongoing one, Miss Roy." He answered. "The case is far from being solved so far; we only know the killer targets hitchhikers. Most of them are people no one would ever search for. So far only time the killer had missed it with Tracy Linderman she was faced with a name and a family. That is different about her." He took the book away from her. "I am not talking about the case. There is another mystery here if you look carefully, Honey."
"I find you mysterious most of the time Mr. Knight." She told him. "And why so may I ask?" he asked her. "Because, the things you do and the things you say, most of the time it feels like you are doing them to hide something from everyone." He sighed and looked at her.
"I try not to; I hide the things that related to me. It has nothing to relate to us." He told her truthfully. "I know, I have nothing to do with you. And after the weekends, and the showcase in Geneva, you and I will not be anything ever again." That sent a wave of pain through him.
Is their time together really this short? Can he do nothing to prolong it any longer?
He can, he knows what he has to do. But he isn't ready for that. He can never be ready for that ever. "I know what I am to you Adrian, I know what I can never be for you." He looked at her brown eyes. "Not now, please stop saying these things. I don't want you to say those things. You wear my ring, and in a weird twisted way, you are my wife. Don't break me out of my fantasy Mira. Not this way. I don't want to part with this fantasy yet." He told her.
"Who am I to break you out of anything? Who am I to decide what you can or cannot do?" "You are my wife, of course, you can decide what I should or shouldn't do. It is your right. It is something you should do." She laughed at that.
"Is something funny? Is something I said?" "You are calling me your fantasy." She told him. "A beautiful fantasy honey. Do you know how beautiful you look in this dress? Do you know what my thoughts are about you now?" He asked her. "N...No should I know what your thoughts are? Should I be concerned with them?" She asked.
"You should, it is your husband's thoughts about you honey. Your husband wishes to hold you close and hug you to sleep. And..." he paused inching very close to her. "Your husband wishes to love you while at it. You are making it difficult for him each passing day, keeping himself in check. Keeping himself away from you. But as a good husband should I would respect my wife's thoughts and needs. Your needs and wishes are before me. Always Honey." He said moving away.
Later that day he took her to a dress shop. "Why again?" She asked. "You don't like shopping?" He asked. "I do, but not with your brooding persona around me. Not when you picking up those..." She pointed to the lingerie he picked up for some reason. "It is going to look good. I know, and besides, I love taking my wife shopping. I love to fool around with her clothes. And even decide what she could look good into. But you can pick anything you like. I will not complain I promise." He told her.
"Then I can have anything I want to and you will not say a word about it, or tell me otherwise." He nodded smiling still. She started to go through the rack of dresses Infront of her. He sat there watching her and wondering when was the last time he had done this?
