Adrian was looking at her sleeping form. He had messed up once again. But he has only a few more days left with her. Few more days till he can keep her closer with the excuse of this ongoing investigation. Keep her as his wife. And he thought about the words he had said earlier about her father. Did he offend her in any way?
He knows nothing about her. And that is something never ever happened before. He would do background checks on every one of his team other than Mira. Other than her. And he has no idea what was preventing him from doing so. What was preventing him from going in and knowing everything she have to hide from him.
He saw the landscape from the plane's window they were close to landing and he didn't want her to miss the view. So, he raised his hand to touch her but he moved back thinking that she was not his. But then these few days he wanted her to know what it felt like being his. Being only his, his better half, his wife.
He shook her slowly. "Mira, baby wake up." He called. "We are almost there." She opened her brown eyes and he was mesmerized by them. The light illuminated them making them look ethereal. "Look outside, you shouldn't miss this view at all." She stood up and looked outside the window where a breath-taking view awaited her. She gasped looking at the landscape. Then she looked back at Adrian who was watching her closely.
"This is beautiful." She told him. "I know baby, it is beautiful. Come on sit next to me. There are few things I wish to talk about before we land." He asked her politely. She sat down next to him and asked him "what is you need to talk about?" Adrian raised her bare left hand and placed something on her ring finger. "You forgot to wear it." Then he pulled her hand to his mouth and kissed her over the ring.
"For the next few days, I wish you to forget that we work together or that we are in any kind of professional relationship." He told her softly. "What you wish for me to do Mr. Knight?" She asked curiously. "I wish you to enjoy being my wife. Forget that we are pretending, forget that this is a show, forget it is a deal, a cover. For the next few days, I wish to show you the real thing."
"I wish you to know what it is like to be my wife in reality. And what it is like to see the finer things in life." He didn't let go of her hand. "For the next few days, I want us to be real baby." She felt his finger over her cheek tracing it. "Let me show you what it feels like being mine, really mine." She looked away. "And what it feels to be yours?" She asked in a timid voice. "I wish to show you just that honey." He told her. Then he pulled her closer and kissed her forehead.
He moved back watching her closely. "Can you call me by my name?" He requested her. "Adrian" She whispered tasting that word on her lips. She licked it trying to keep it from drying. All this closeness was affecting her in a very bad way. Adrian was not immune himself. So, for the next few days, he wanted to see if he can try and work this out in reality. Wouldn't it be great if he doesn't have to say goodbye to her at all? Wouldn't it be nice?
"Mira, I do not wish to frighten you but I am in less control of my emotions when you are near. You disrupt my schedule and my perfectly planned life. You had made me run throughout the town looking for you and you frightened me when I couldn't find you that day in the archives. The time you had gotten yourself admitted to that hospital and suffered from the gunshot wound, Mira my heart stopped beating for a while. For no reason at all. It shouldn't have happened but it did. I have no clue why?" He told her.
"Is it a bad thing? That I make you lose control?" He sighed making her look at him. "You do, but not necessarily it is a bad thing, Mira. I like how unusual you are, different from rest of us. You can get through everything with that creative brain of yours, think of things none of us can, who would have thought that a purse can be a calling card? Or link the murders through photographs? Random pictures that served no meaning at all. Or made me get to the grocery store for shopping." He told her.
