Mira entered the room. Chief Colson looked at her. "Mira, I heard, are you alright?" Mira looked at Adrian who looked at her impassively. "I am a crime reporter Chief Colson, it is not a new thing for me. Only new thing is that someone saved me this time. But I know when you are in this kind of dangerous lifestyle you cannot depend on anyone. You have to forever be alone." Mira said.

"So, did you find something?" Sheena asked Brian. "Yes, I cross-checked every one of the lists." He said. "Ok tomorrow we will resume again, checking their alibis," Chief said.

"It is already very late. Mira, I think you need protection because as you can see, you are not alone anymore. You are part of a team and as a team, we protect our members. Knight, why don't you let her stay with you, I mean you are very capable of protecting her." Chief said.

"Yes, but I am not very interested in wasting my time on fulfilling the wishes of the little girls who cannot protect themselves." "Knight it is not a request, it is an order" Adrian almost kicked the table and he hit the table hard with his hand. "I do not take orders from anyone Colson," Adrian said enraged.

"You will if you want to stay in this investigative team don't you Knight" Adrian looked at him sharply. But he chose not to argue he knew how much this investigation mattered to him. "Fine. But she has to follow my rules in my house"

He told Mira to follow him. She did it without question. She knew she have to find out who it was who was targeting her. Until then if she has to handle this arrogant bastard then be it. She will do anything to fulfill her purpose.

"You don't have to protect me. I can take care of myself" she said. "I am well aware of how well you can protect yourself." He stayed silent the rest of the way.

He showed her a spare room. "You can stay here, for the rest of your custody Miss Mira Roy and remember never interfere in my affairs. As I said stay far away from me as possible." Mira nodded.

"I don't want to be here more than you want me to." She said quietly which made him look at her sharply. "Are you done?" He asked. She nodded. "Dinner will be in an hour till then you are free to do whatever you like to for not getting bored," He said walking out

"I will do what I do best. I will research" Mira said taking her laptop out. She was where she wanted to be. And she knew she cannot waste this opportunity. She started to see the victim's pictures and cross-examine them carefully. She knew she was not a forensic expert but there was something very familiar about this case. There was something she cannot pinpoint but it was in the back of her mind.

He slowly entered his room all the time wondering why he have to be the one on babysitting duty. He opened his coat and threw it on the hanger. Another lonely night for him. It had been four years since he was searching. And still, he found nothing. He was now frustrated.

"Oh, now I have another headache, babysitting her. I don't know why me. She could have lived with anyone but Colson lives to torment me." He washed his face. And looked into the mirror. He looked at his arm dry and crusted blood lined his wound. He slowly cleaned it and hissed as the cloth touched it. But it was nothing new for him. He had been hurt like this before.

He looked at himself and closed his eyes. All he could picture was that girl. He can see her frightened self. For some reason, it was bothering him too much. He bandaged his wound and walked towards her door. His feet took him away from his room and towards her. Her door was open and he hesitated for a bit. But since she was almost shot today, it was only fair that he should check on her. He raised his hand to knock at the door.

"You can come in; the door is open and I am decent" Mira's voice stopped him in his tracks. He walked in and saw she was working with papers sprawled on the floor. "How did you know?" Adrian asked. "You are not the most silent protagonist of the plot Mr. Knight. To be stealthy you want to switch those shoes, get some sneakers. It will help you when you have to run." She didn't look up from the papers.
