Cold air rushed around the room as soon as the door of the library's entrance swung open.

Morgan walked nonchalantly towards the table Nate was working at. He didn't notice her coming in as he was too focused on his homework and his music was playing loudly in his headphones. She dragged a chair out from under the table. It was the screaming of the chair against the floor that announced Morgan's presence to the boy.

"What's up?" He took his headphones off to greet her but he didn't lift his head up from his screen.

"Wanna go skating after school?" She crossed her legs on her chair.

"Nah, not in the mood." His eyes were glued to his screen.

"So what d'ya wanna do?" She pulled a Tupperware full of cookies out of her backpack.

"KFC?" He asked. He pointed at a sign on the wall with his pen which caused Morgan to swallow the rest of her half-eaten cookie quickly, "no food allowed in here."

Megan closed the box and shoved it back into her backpack. "Should we invite the twins?" She asked with her mouth full.

The introvert hesitated. After a few seconds he finally responded, "I guess," with a shrug.

Morgan paused before continuing, "mind if we also invite someone else? Im sure you guys will get along well, I promise."

Nate hesitated again.

Before he could say anything, Morgan spoke again, "she's really nice. It's this girl named Melody. She would've come last time but she couldn't."

"Fine..." Nate finally agreed and a soft smile spread on both their faces.

A couple more hours of school passed and the ay was finally over. Nate texted his parents before going to the fast food restaurant that he and his best friend agreed on going to.

Nate and Morgan got on their skateboards and raced at full speed to the KFC.

Once they got to the place, they walked up to the entrance holding their skateboards.

Morgan struggled to push the door open, "shit, why's the door so heavy?"

Nate moved her to the side and pulls the door open. He bowed and gestured her inside, "after you, your highness." He teased.

"Fuck off" she scoffed when she went inside, "I'll order some fries for you." She said before going to the queue and Nate went to find a booth.

After glancing around, he finally spotted the twins have already gotten a table, and next to a window—which Nate liked.

As he made his way to their table he heard a bit of their conversation and learnt something new about them,

"Sigo sin entender como coño dejaron que ese loco cante, ¡se le da fatal!"

He didn't really know what that meant but he guessed they were Spanish. He sat down and they all exchanged hellos.

Morgan later appeared with a tray of French fries and ice creams for everyone and sat down, handing each thing to whoever ordered it previously. They began to eat and talk about whatever has happened over the weekend.

"Oh look here's Mel!" Chris announced, getting up to hug the girl approaching.

Eloy and Morgan welcomed her by flashing big, bright smiles, which she also returned followed by a kind "hi!"

And then, Nate saw her face. It was her, his hallway crush. Melody was the pretty girl he's seen at school; the girl he wished he had the courage to talk to; it was her! And he could hardly believe it. After all these months of hoping to one day finally talk to her, he finally got the chance to, not only that, but get to be close with her.

Melody extended her arm towards the starstruck boy, offering her hand for him to shake, "you must be Nate, Morgan has told me so much about you! I'm Melody."
