*Abby's POV*
I was lying there in the darkness of my mind, I replayed everything that has happened to me. When I first met Nick, I was six. He was like me, happy and shy. We became friends right away, we felt connected in a way. We believed that it was because we were the same, that we were connected to each other in a way that only we understood. We would spend days together, just sitting in the yard listening to the radio and enjoying each other's company.
Then it flashed to when I was 12, Nick came into my room after I had that horrible dream again. I was greatful taht he came in, he was here to comfort me. Instead of hugging me, he slapped me, hard. He no longer wanted to be my friend. I knew I was supposed to marry my mate, but I loved Nick.
I knew that no matter what happened to me, I would always love my mate no matter what. If I was told that day that he would betray me, leave me when I needed him most, and that he would reject me, I wouldn't have believed them. I wish, now, that I had never met him. I wish I never knew him.
---------------------------------
Electricity ran through me as my body lifted from the table. It repeated three times before I heard someone shout that I am back. Back from where? Last thing I remembered was Jace telling me that one of his friends were coming over to stay with our family. I dont even know why I am here. I opened my eyes and saw Dr. Huey standing over me with a flash light.
"Can you hear her?" Dr. Huey asked. I stared in confusion. Hear her, Who is her? Maybe he was talking about someone else.
"What?" I asked. I nearly jumped at the sound of my voice. It was deeper, I looked down to find a woman's body and not my six year old body. Oh my god! They switched my body. Or am I still dreaming?
"Your wolf, can you hear your wolf?"
"My wolf? When did I get a wolf? What do you mean by me hearing her?" Dr. Huey shook his head.
"What is the last thing you remember?"
"I was at the pond with Jace, he said one of his friends was coming over to stay with us. Why? What's wrong?" I looked out the window and saw several people staring back at me. Some of them were crying, many looked like they were going to scream. One person looked familiar. He looked like Jace, but older.
"I was afraid of this." Dr. Huey said and then walked out of the room. I stared at the wall trying to find out what was going on. The door opened and the guy that looked like Jace walked in.
"Abby, do you remember me?" He said with tears in his eyes.
"Jace?" He broke into sobs and ran to me. He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tightly. "I...I don't understand. Why am I hear? Why do we look older?"
"Because we are. You lost a lot of blood and now you can't remember anything." I opened my eyes to see a guy with black hair standing in the door way.
"Who is he?" I whispered. Jace looked to the door and shook his head. The guy in the door bursted into tears and collapsed to the floor. I am so lost. Why can't I remember anything?
Abby? I jumped and screamed. There was a voice in my head. Calm down. It's going to be ok, love. I have seen what is going on, so I will introduce myself. I am Natasha, your wolf.
"What is it?" Jace asked in concern.
"Nothing, my w... my wolf is talking to me."
"You can hear her?" I nodded. "This is great."
"Who is that?" I asked pointing to the guy leaning on the wall.
"That is Nick, my friend I wanted you to meet. Remember? I told you he was coming to stay with us? He is also..."
"Your friend." Nick spoke up. Jace looked over in confusion and then Nick gave him a look and Jace nodded. I looked over at Nick, he had a look of athority to him. I felt a connection to him and Natasha wanted me to go to him. I shook my head and told her no.
*Nick's POV*
I looked into the room and saw Jace hugging Abby. Does she remember us after all? I walked in and Abby looked me up and down. She whispered something to Jace and Jace looked back to me. He shook his head and I knew I lost her. I collapsed to the ground and cried. How could I have let this happen? I should have been there for her, I should have never said and done those things to her. There is an up side to this though, she doesn't remember all the things I did to her. She screamed and I shot my head up.
"Nothing, my w... my wolf is talking to me."
"You can hear her?" Jace asked her. She nodded. "This is great."
"Who is that?" She asked pointing to me. I had my back to the wall now. She can hear her wolf. That means she still has a connection to me. Hopefully. I hope to god that they didn't pair her up with someone else to give her a fresh start.
"That is Nick, my friend I wanted you to meet. Remember? I told you he was coming to stay with us? He is also..."
"Your friend." I said, cutting Jace off. Jace looked over in confusion and I gave him a look that told him to not say anything and Jace nodded. She shook her head and had a strange expression on her face. She was talking to her wolf, maybe she can explain the situation better than we can.
"Abby, I know it may seem like a lot, but I am your mate." I said. I couldn't hold it in any more. I needed to hold her in my arms again. I needed to feel her soft hair in my hands before I lost her completely.
