My eyes open at the sudden beam of light, blinding me instantly.

"Ah!" I yell, covering my face with a pillow. "Turn off the sun!"

I hear Josh's muffled laugh and the sound of the shade being closed. "You can come out now." He chuckles.

I slide the pillow off my face and glares at him. "You did that on purpose."

He shrugs and sits next to me. "Maybe, maybe not. I'll never tell, I'll never tell!"

I giggle and roll my eyes, all while I move to curl into his side. "Okay you weirdo."

He starts rubbing his hand on my back, soothing me. "Are you ready for today?" He asks me.

I sigh, closing my eyes. "I don't know. I mean, I feel good but the thought of being in public terrifies me. I don't... I haven't been outside since... that night."

"I know love, but I'll be with you the whole entire time. And like I said, the second you start feeling like it's too much for you we'll head back home, okay?"

I nod and sit up, my face just inches away from his. "We're only going Halloween shopping, right?"

"Right." He confirms. "We're going to Spirit Halloween, getting a few decorations and maybe if we see a costume we like we can get it then we'll come home and get to lie in bed for the rest of day."

"Okay. But I need to shower, I stink."

He chuckles and gives me a quick kiss. "We can shower together, I need one too."

I giggle and roll my eyes. "Okay but I get to be under the water first. And you have to wash my body for me."

"Do you think I'd do anything less of the sorts?" He asks rhetorically, giving me another kiss.

I move to sit on his lap, my arms wrap around his neck and he places his hands on my hips. I stare into his eyes, getting lost into the puddle that are his golden brown irises; a smile rests easily on my lips.

"I've missed looking at you like this." He whispers.

"I've missed it too. I'm sorry it took me so long-"

"No, don't apologize. You needed time to recover, love. A very bad thing happened and you acted the same way I would've, you don't have to apologize."

I nod and move my head to rest on my arm, in the crook of his neck. "I love you." I say.

"I love you more, baby."

There's a quiet knock on our door that startles me, which makes Josh laugh.

"Yes?" He says loud enough for whomever it is on the other side.

The door opens. "We're leaving for school," Abby's voice rings through my ears. "Mom talked to your principal and she said you're safe to stay home the next few days."

"Okay, thank you Abbs." Josh says.

"Yeah, we'll be back in a few. Love you guys."

Josh and I both say love you too at the same time and she closes the door. I look back up at him with a wide smile.

"She said she loves me." I cheese.

He laughs and nods. "Of course she does. So does Ashley and Jordon and my mom, most importantly me but you already knew that."

I giggle. "I love you all. You're the best family ever."

"We're all very happy and incredibly lucky to have you with us, again, mostly me but that's nothing new."
