Y/n's POV

I sighed as I walked over to Ryder. Walk normally. I told myself. Just as I thought that my foot slipped on a puddle and I went down. I put out my hands to catch myself, hurting my wrist in the process. Ryder ran over to me and knelt down.

"Are you ok?" He asked. I held my hands up to see if I scrapped them. Some skin was peeling but nothing to worry about. I took a look at my knee and sure enough, there was blood. I sighed and wiped it away.

"Don't do that, ill put a bandage on it" Ryder spoke. I looked up at him and let him help me up. He put his hand on my lower back and led me to the office. He got down the first aid kit and walked over to me. He helped put my leg up on a chair. He began cleaning it and putting a band-aid on it.

"What brings you here?" He asked. I sighed and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.

"I don't know where to begin" I stated truthfully. Ryder looked up at me.

"Try". I took a deep breath.

"Camilo and I... He doesn't love me anymore" I whispered. Ryder blew out air through his lips.

"How did you know you loved me?" I asked.

"You were so miserable Y/n. You cried almost every night. Every night I heard your sobs I wanted to comfort you so badly. I wanted to be the one you confided in. The one who could save you from your father. The one who you could run to" Ryder said.

"You didn't answer my question" I huffed.

"What?"

"How did you know you loved me?" I asked again.

"I felt empathy towards you"

"You went through the same thing as me?" I asked.

"Yes," Ryder whispered. I put my hand on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry" I whispered.

"I wanted more than anything to take your pain away y/n. I knew what you were going through but I also knew it was worse than my situation" Tears rimmed his eyes.

"I'm sorry," I said again, not knowing what else to say.

"It wasn't your fault" He stated. We sat in silence after that.

"I'm so sorry y/n. I did something horrible to you. I'll never forgive myself. I was selfish. I'm so so sorry" Ryder cried. Tears were now running down my face as well.

"It's okay" I choked out. Ryder stood up and I did as well. He embraced me in a hug and I hugged back. He pulled away and wiped at his tears.

"Friends?" He asked.

"Friends" I replied. All of a sudden Ryder was shoved away from me and I turned to look at whoever it was. Camilo.
