Darkly
It looms
Behind me
It follows me
Like a haunting ghost
I try to hide it
From you
From everyone
Telling myself
It's not there anymore
Lying to myself
Lying to you
Even though
You may not see
Even though
You may not know
Even though
You may not understand
It's still there
Haunting me
It plays over and over
Like a disharmonic tune
It looks just like me
But it's not
I've changed
It's not me
Anymore
I hope
It's just
A shadow
Of my past

Our past is like a shadow. It always follows us, everyone has one, and most seem to be darker than our future. It serves as a reminder that we can always change from who we use to be. There is hope for the future. There has to be. So make the most of this moment, but still think about the future. There will be a light waiting for us someday. Follow it.
