"Tori?"
She turns around and faces me. She freezes for a moment with a look of worry all over her face.
"Hello, Octavia," she finally answers.
"You doing well?" I ask.
"Yeah, I guess. What tattoo have you chosen?"
I show her the oak tree. "I want this one on the top of my back."
"Very well, take a seat."
I sit down on the chair, which is shaped similar to the chair I sat on before the aptitude test.
"You will have to lean forward for this tattoo I'm afraid, as it's going to be on your back," she explains.
"Oh, okay." I lean forward slightly, just enough so that she has room to put the tattoo on.
She types something in on a computer, then comes over with a black rubber thing connected to a wire. It's placed on the top of my back lightly, covering the whole area. I feel ink pumping throughout it as she keeps gently pressing it down on my back.
"I know you lied to me after my aptitude test," I blurt out quietly.
She stares at me in shock. "I was trying to protect you," she explains.
"I know. Why is... Divergence such a big deal though?" I ask curiously.
"You're special, you threaten the faction system entirely. The faction leaders are terrified of your abilities," she replies, sounding similar to Tobias when he told me about Divergence, using that same serious tone.
"But what abilities?"
"We can't talk about this here," she says, talking louder. "Your tattoo is done."
"Thanks," I say, slightly sarcastically as she didn't completely explain to me the abilities of a Divergent.
I look around for Tobias and find him near a different tattoo station.
"Hey."
"Hey, Ava," he says. "Show me your tattoo."
I turn around, doing a bit of a twirl, then flick my hair.
He laughs.
"I like it," he says. "I got a tattoo of the Dauntless symbol in the same place you got your oak tree."
I walk behind him and take a look.
"Wow, Tobias, it looks great, I was wondering, did you get that to remind yourself that you're Dauntless now?"
"I guess, but I've always liked how the Dauntless symbol looked, if I'm honest," he admits. "How come you got the oak tree? It's similar to the Amity symbol actually."
"I liked the appearance of it," I say.
"Similar to my answer," he replies, smiling.
I take his hand and we head back to our room.
-
We walk through the narrow walkways of the Pit hand in hand.
As we're walking past the toilet, I quickly stop walking and let go of Tobias' hand.
"You want to carry on to our room? I just need to go to the toilet," I explain, whispering the last part.
"Oh, okay. I'll see you in a minute," he says, planting a light kiss on my lips before walking away.
-
After finishing in the toilet, I open the door and begin walking back.
Then I hear a footstep.
It sounded like it was behind me.
I'm standing in the middle of four walkways, so it's hard to know where it came from.
I take a look at the walkway behind me, and I see nothing.
Then I hear it again.
That's when someone grabs me and shoves a bag over my head.
