When Hope arrived outside, a car stood ready before the Compund, their beautiful home. Klaus just stowed her suitcase in the trunk when Hope got closer to him.
She stopped next to her father and tried to figure out what he was thinking about, but without success.Suddenly, the door from the Compund opened, and Freya came out. She went to Hope and Klaus with quick steps.
"Oh, thank God, you're still here," she said released.
"You didn't want to leave without saying goodbye to me, did you?"
Hope quickly shook her head.
"No! Of course not."
She gave her aunt a little smile but knew inside that she had lied. The truth was that Hope didn't want to say goodbye. She hated goodbyes because they made her feel guilty even if there was no reason to feel this way.
"Where is Elijah?"
Hope heard the pleasent voice of her father.
"I'm here," came at once an answer.
All three turned their heads to the Compound from which Elijah came slowly and, like always, elegant closer.
He was wearing a suite, which was normal for him, but Hope still did not understand why he dressed like that. In fact, she never did. Maybe he just felt comfortable in suites."Finally! Already thought you would never show up here, big brother."Niklaus chuckled in irony.
"Unlike you, I keep promises, Niklaus," Elijah replied calmly.
Klaus seemed displeased, but only for a few seconds.
"Well, give my regards to Kol when you meet him," Freya said while she stroked a strand of her goldblond hair behind her ear.
"We will," Elijah answered and hugged her.
A moment later, Hope and Klaus gave Freya a hug too before getting into the car."Be careful and call me if you need anything." Hope heard her aunties voice one last time through the opened window, before Klaus nodded and started the engine.
During the ride, Hope was thinking about Freyas' words about giving regards from her to Kol.What the hell did that mean?
Was Kol in Mystic Falls?
Was it possible that he and Davina lived there?
But why wouldn't anyone tell Hope that?
Why would they make such a secret from it?
Was it important that no one knew where they lived?
But why?"You're all right, love?"Klaus asked, but Hope ignored it. Something must have happened. Why else would Dad keep things from me? I hope you thought.
"Hope?"Niklaus asked again. This time, it was a little more demandingly.
Hope looked a little confused at him. "What?"
Elijah, who sat on the passenger seat, turned a little so that he could see in Hopes face.
"Your father asked whether something was wrong."Hope rolled her eyes and was annoyed. She heard Klauses question herself.
"Everything's fine," she answered.
"Are you sure?"
Elijah stared at her with a scrutinizing look, which made her angry.
Fine. Then I will just ask, Hope, decided in her mind.
"Is Uncle Kol in Mystic Falls?"
Hope tried to look inconspicuous, but obviously, it didn't work that well. She noticed that her Dad and Elijah gave each other strange looks.
They tried to hide their reaction, but Hope already noticed. She knew this look from her Dad very well. The worried one said that Hope already knew more than he wanted her to.
She hated this.
Why won't they still let her be involved in the family business?
She was not a little girl anymore.
Hope was sixteen now, and she was able to keep secrets.
She just wanted them to stop treating her like a child.Hope bit on her lip. She was waiting for an answer and slowly became impatient.
"Why do you ask, sweetheart?"Niklaus suddenly asked and sounded somehow afraid.
Like he was scared from her answer.
Hope shrugged and tried to stay calm. "No reason."
She concentrated on the landscape when she looked outside through the window.Even though she could not see Niklauses's face, she knew that he glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
"There is always a reason why we ask things," he explained and sounded in that moment like a wise teacher.
Now, Hope couldn't hold herself together any longer.
"Well, you' re right. I know that something is going on. What are you not telling me?" Hope nearly yelled at him and even scared herself a little with that.A few seconds of silence prevailed.
Then Elijah began talking again and disturbed the inpleasend silence.
"Maybe we should tell you that Kol is indeed in Mystic Falls."
"As well as Davina, by the way," Klaus interrupted.
"Thank you, Niklaus, but I think that's pretty obvious. May I continue?"Elijah replied noble like always.
Klaus nodded with a smile.
"Of course. Please. Go on, big brother, and tell us a nice story.""Thank you," Elijah said and continued.
"Actually, Kol and Davina have lived in Mystic Falls for a few months now. In fact, Niklaus and I were planning on visiting them."
Klaus laughed.
"Yeah, well. But only if our little brother doesn't act like a psychotic miniac."
Elijah gave him a serious and a little uncomphrending look.
"He won't. He changed."Hope didn't listen anymore. She was surprised.
That was great news.
She loved her uncle Kol.
He was always funny and nice to her. She realised that she had missed him.
Even though Elijah had finally answered her question, Hope still had this feeling that something wasn't right. But honestly, she was too tired and exhausted to ask any more questions.
Besides, she didn't want to upset them too much.
Otherwise, they would probably turn around and drive right back to New Orleans.
So, she was quiet, and after a few minutes she already fall asleep without knowing why.
Why was she so tired?
She did not do so strenuous things.
Her eyes fell as if by themselves to, and her thought disappeared.Hey guys!
I really hope you enjoy the story.
What do you think is it that Klaus and Elijah are keeping from Hope?
Is there a secret at all, or does Hope just have this feeling that there is one?Well, like always, I would be so happy if you would leave a comment so that I know what you think about the chapter.
