I need to get a life :)
————————————-Beneath the rusty orange light of a flickering streetlamp, Shota Aizawa stood, attempting to lure a horde of stray cats toward him.
In reality, the teacher was currently awaiting one of his students, Shouto Todoroki, who was taking a home visit. After all the recent villain nonsense, it'd become protocol for an escort to be with students at all times outside of campus, which was exactly what he was doing this particular night.
"Here kitty, kitty, kitty," he beckoned, offering a few treats as bait. This endeavor had lasted twenty minutes, running his treat supply down to dire levels. Because of that, there were only a few more chances to ensnare the cats before he ran out of 'bait'.
Finally, the tabby edged closer, yoinking a treat from the man's hand. Upon seeing the tabby survive, her comrades flocked to Aizawa for their own treats, greedily taking as many as the could fit into their teensy mouths.
"See," he chuckled, stroking one of the strays as it amusedly rubbed its face on his leg.
Down the gravel driveway, a sudden slam followed by a soft 'oops' sent the cats scattering. Dang, right after they began to trust me. The teacher sighed, tucking the last treat back into his pocket for safekeeping.
"Ready to go?" He called out to the teen jogging down the driveway, twirling his keys in the air.
"Yes sir," adjusting the bag around his shoulder, Shouto rounded the car, aiming for shotgun, his plans immediately thwarted by the locked door.
Like many a visit home, the teen was eager to return to the comfort of the dorms. Tonight though, he just wanted to climb in bed and dissolve into sleep.
Even just sitting in the car, he could feel his eyes dropping, struggling to flutter back open every couple seconds. The exhaustion entirely enveloping him, settling in aching muscles and heavy eyes. Hypnotic streetlights washing over the car like golden waves, attempting to lull him to sleep.
It wasn't subtle either. Though, in a much different way to the driver of the car.
Aizawa couldn't help but laugh a bit at the student fighting sleep, in very similar fashion to his own, much younger, daughter. Well, it was funny for a brief moment. Passing under a traffic light, he noticed there was actually something... off about the kid.
His face had fallen completely pale, washed with a crimson flush too stark to be normal, his clammy hands fidgeting shakily.
This behavior reminded him of two weeks past, when his son, Shinso, had come down with something very similar. Probably the bug that'd been floating around the school for the last couple weeks.
With a twinge of worry, the teacher impulsively reached over his hand to check his student's obviously feverish forehead. To his surprise, the gentle hand was met with a jolting flinch.
"Hey, bud, it's just me," he mumbled, taking his hand back. "You feeling alright?"
"Yeah, yes, sorry. Just..." his mismatched eyes darted around aimlessly, searching for the right way to put it. "... just tired today."
"Ah, me too kid." Fair, he guessed, they'd had a rough day after all, and it was getting pretty late. And, although though he still didn't feel right dropping the subject, it wasn't his business to pry.
For the moment, he confided to just making a mental note to keep an eye on the kid, and changed the conversation.
By the time they arrived back at the dorms, everything seemed fine again.
The usual chaos had ensued during their absence, most of it centered around a particularly intense game of MarioKart. Aizawa barely even got a chance to take off his shoes before being dragged into a pandemonium of students begging him to join the game.
Meanwhile, across the commons, Shouto was preoccupied with almost the opposite.
Kicking off his shoes he didn't get the chance to set down his bag before his waist was embraced by a pair of arms, lifting him off the ground from behind, and planting a playful peck on his cheek. Despite having dated for a while now, his ears still flushed deep burning crimson.
"Hey! How was it?!" The cheery voice of his boyfriend asked, setting him back on the ground.
"Oh, um, it was alright, how was your night?" Public displays of affection were still a new thing to him, one that he didn't know if he'd ever get used to.
"It was fine." Something in his tone changed, brows furrowing a worried look on his freckled face. "Is everything okay?"
"I'm pretty tired." He admitted quietly.
"Okay," brushing a few tousled bangs away, Midoriya offered a supportive smile, giving the taller boy's hand a little squeeze. "Why don't you come sit? We've got enough blankets for the both of us."
"I'd- I would like that." Tossing his bag on the floor, Shouto followed his boyfriend over to a pile of pillows and blankets, their friends' heads peeking over mountains of fluff.
They all gave half-hearted greetings, not out of rudeness but the reason being most of their attention was fixated on the heated video game battle. Curling up in blankets, the boys settled down to enjoy the battles alongside their friend group.
Later that night, after several matches and re-matches, Sho decided he was ready to turn in for the night. Sometime around nine thirty-ish. In all honesty, he was absolutely drained of energy, barely able to keep himself conscious, so early bedtime wasn't that unreasonable.
Obviously he didn't get away without out a proper goodnight kiss, but afterward he set on his way to glorious sleep.
As usual, his dorm room awaited, it's traditional style and dim light calming to heavy eyes. In lack of energy, he managed to throw on some pajamas before a near instantaneous collapse into the comfort of his bed, eager for the night's rest to wash away the fatigue and discomfort that'd evolved throughout the day.
But, as he soon found, peaceful rest was the last thing he would get...
