i told you i needed space

today was the sunniest day since the day i met jungkook. i couldn't stop thinking about him, even though i was pretty busy with work today. i had three haircuts right at opening time, now it's lunchtime and i have an all over color right after. i'm so happy that work is finally picking up. it's a good distraction from all that happened last week. i finish up my burger and head to the back to wash my hands. as i make my way back i hear the door bell jingle.
"hello! you must be my all over co- are you kidding me?"
"min, i'm literally just here to get my hair touched up. that's it." jungkook puts his hands up in defense. it hasn't even been four days since i 'broke up' with him and here he is. i scoff and point to the chair. he sheepishly shrugs and walks over to it. i run to the back and grab the same purple we used last time. "aww you remembered my color!" he coos.
"jungkook." i scold him to which he puts his hands up in defense once more. i start parting his hair to apply the color and i can't help but notice him staring at me in the mirror. "jungkook please stop staring at me." he mumbles a sorry and begins to move his eyes to other places around the room. "okay, it needs to process for thirty minutes and i'll be back to rinse you." i inform him and begin walking to the back.
"where are you going?" he asks.
"to sit in the back while you process." i know he wanted to talk to me, but it was the last thing i needed right now. i heard him sigh as i continued heading towards the back.
-
"okay since you're back here a little over a week later i'm going to assume you didn't follow the instructions so i'll reiterate them for you. wash in cold water, and don't wash every day. otherwise i'll see you next week." i told him as i finished styling his hair. i saw him smile at me, but i ignored it. "that'll be $30."
"you never asked me why i dyed my hair purple in the first place." he smiles at me bringing up the old question as he slaps his $100 bill on the table.
"jungkook..." i beg. he knows i need a break from him right now. he sighs. i feel bad but it's what i need. "if you cared about me you'd give me the space, i'm happy to do your hair but can we please cut the small talk until further notice?" i plead. his eyes light up.
"until further notice!" he exclaims. "ill see you around." and he skips out the door. i chuckle. what a weirdo. i begin cleaning all the leftover purple from my station when i hear the door bell jingle once again. i wasn't supposed to have any other clients today so i was excited to see who came in.
"hello! is there anything i can help you with?" i ask the girl. she looked a little familiar, but i couldn't put my finger on it.
"yeah, i'd like my hair to be darker... around the shade of yours probably." she looks at my dark brown hair and i look at her silky blond hair.
"really? your hair is very pretty as it is!" i scold myself immediately for saying that. i never want to stray away from what the customer wants. it just slipped out. she let out a cute laugh.
"thanks, but it's time for a change. my ex has officially moved on so..." she trailed off. i instantly felt her pain.
"i know your pain, i just got dumped too." i joke lightheartedly. she smiles.
"good. so you know why i need the change." she hops over to my chair as i go to the back to get the color options. as i look around i start to think that maybe changing my own hair would help me get over jimin. let's see how it makes her feel first.
"theres a lot of purple over here." she laughs pointing at the purple dye that stained the sink from jungkook.
"yeah i just did a touch up on a client." i laugh.
"what a crazy color." she states and i nod. i hand her the colors and she immediately picks up the darkest black. "this one." she states.
"are you sure? it'll be hard to get back to your blonde after this." i inform her. she takes a moment, running her fingers through her hair.
"i'm sure." she states.
"all right, lets get started!" i exclaim.
-
"i love it!" the smile on her face was enough to make anyone within a 50 mile radius smile. she seemed like the sweetest soul.
"i'm so glad!" i give her my usual aftercare speech and bring her up front to pay. she pays $40 and tells me to keep the change to which i respond with gratitude.
"im jeeho, by the way." she says as she puts her wallet back into her purse.
"nice to meet you! im-"
"minseo, everyone knows who you are!" she laughs lightly. i make a puzzled face at her. "wait you really don't know what i'm talking about?" she questions. i shake my head no waiting for a response. "you're minseo, the girl who had the balls to piss of sojee. you're kind of a badass." she claims.
"what? i've never even spoken to sojee." i respond, even more confused.
"that's not what sojee has been telling everyone..." she trails off.
"what has she been saying?"
"i really shouldn't-"
"what has she been saying?" i ask again but more sternly.
"look, i'm not one for gossip.but sojee is telling everyone that you forced jimin to break up with her." she states with her hands up.
"what? i didn't tell jimin to break up with her!" i exclaim angrily.
"hey, i'm just the messenger. all i know is jimin and sojee are no longer together, and she's telling everyone it's your fault." she nods at me. "anyway, i've gotta run, thanks for the new do!" she runs out the door almost as if she's scared of what she had just told me. it hasn't even been a week and there's already a bad rumor out there about me. i can only think of one person who can fix this rumor, and that's jimin. but why on earth did he break up with her when he wanted to be with her so badly this whole time? i need some answers.
