"Did you give Jacob the eggshells?" Grace asks Newt as he enters the Goldsteins' spare bedroom. Flicking her wand, the last of her items enter her case. An unresolved tension rest thick between the two, the kiss from the night before had yet to be spoken about. After returning from the subway station, everyone had gone straight to bed, beyond exhausted both physically and emotionally.

"Yes," Newt nods. "Grace—"

"Newt—" The two spoke at the same time. Clearing her throat, Grace continued. "Uh, you go first," she said. Her eyes trained to Newt's brown boots, she waited for a rejection. For Newt to tell her he had been in love with Leta all this time.

"I just wanted to, um—"

"I'm sorry," Grace suddenly cut him off. She couldn't hear it; it would crush her. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable last night, I wasn't thinking. And I understand if you don't..." she takes a deep breath. "If you don't feel the same."

"I wanted—"

"It's just... I quite fancy you, Newt." Grace looks into his eyes, before directly diverting her sight back to the ground. "I have for quite a long time. But, um..." She trails off at the sound of Newt's chuckle. "Why are you laughing?"

With a shake of his head, Newt steps forward, the distance between the two rapidly closing. He raises a hand and tucks Grace's stray hair behind her ear before placing his palm onto her cheek. He tilts her head upwards, making her eyes meet his, rubbing his thumb across her cheekbone.

"I quite fancy you, too," his signature lopsided grin appears on his face momentarily before his lips are on hers once more. Newt's other hand rests on Grace's lower back, pulling her into him as they share a passionate kiss. Melting into him, Grace places her hands flat against his chest, the scratchy feeling of his yellow vest invading her senses. Pulling back to breathe, they rest their foreheads together with large smiles on their faces.

"Really?" Grace whispers.

"Did that not prove it?" Newt grins.

"I might need a little more proof," she smirks, and Newt leans in to share another passionate kiss.

"Oh!" Tina gasps as she opens the door, bringing a hand to cover her eyes. Grace and Newt pull back immediately, cheeks burning. "Um, so sorry, but you two might want to head to the docks. Your ship is leaving soon."

"Right, thanks," Newt hides behind his tousled hair, embarrassed. He grabs onto his case as Grace grabs her own. "Should we go?" He holds an arm out for her to link with.

"Yeah, I think I could use a night in my own bed," she laughs as they apparate to the docks, Tina close behind.

"Well, it's been um..." Newt trails off.

"Hasn't it?" Tina smiles. "Listen, Newt, Grace, I wanted to thank you both."

"What on Earth for?" Grace asks.

"If you hadn't said all those nice things about me, I wouldn't be back on the investigative team now."

"Just promise not to get us arrested again," Grace laughs, clearly joking.

"Try not to get up to any more trouble," Tina responds.

"Quiet life for us from now on. Back to the Ministry. my manuscript and Grace's illustrations," Newt adds.

"I'll look out for it. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

"We'll send a copy, if we may?" Newt queries.

"I'd like that," Tina nods.

"How about we deliver it in person?" Grace smiles, letting her grudge wash away with the sound of the ocean waves.

"I'd like that, very much." The horn of the ship sounds, signaling it's time to go.

"See you later, Tina." Grace waves, and Newt and her walk hand in hand onto the ship. Looking out into the ocean, they were ready for anything that awaited them in the future.
