The surface was gleaming with light and the contents inside looked like liquid and air. Silvery steam was rising above it. I tried to put my hand into it but before I could do that, Severus caught hold my hand and glared at me. I pouted at him like a three year old. Then he did something amazing. He just touched his wand to his temple and when he pulled it away, a string like light came out of it and then he dropped it into the Pensieve and gave it a swirl with his wand. Then he looked at me.

"What?" I asked in surprise.

"Dip your head into it."

"Why?"

"It's for you to see." I looked at it. There was an extra shimmering light in the fluid now. I wondered what happens if I dipped my head into it. Sensing my doubts, he spoke up, "It will show you my memories, just like they are. You will watch them as if you were there in that memory. You cannot change anything or no one can see you. You will just watch everything from a close aspect." He stared back at the Pensieve.

"You won't see them?"

"I have lived them once. I don't want to."

"Please. I cannot watch them alone." I said extending my hand. He looked at my hand and instantly grabbed it. Then we both dipped our heads into the Pensieve and within seconds I was falling into it. I started to scream and wave my hands to catch something. I could not feel Severus around me. Merlin what was I thinking, I thought.

I landed on hard wooden floor. It did not hurt, neither the floor cracked, nor did it make any sound. I got up on my feet to look around and saw a black haired boy sitting in the corner, his legs up to his chin. He was crying soundlessly with his hands covered over his head. I tried to touch the boy but my hands just went through him. I looked at my hands.

"Shit!" I thought. "Am I dead?" Right then another hand came on my shoulder. I turned around. It was Severus.

"I told you it's just a memory." He said with a cold blank face.

"A memory, right." I thought.

"If it's your memory," I continued, and then turning towards the boy, "Is this you?"

He did not say anything. Right then a man entered through the door. He looked familiar, but I swear I have never seen him before. He started shouting on someone, just when I realised, there was another person in the room; a woman, she was cowering in the corner and the man continued to shout at her. Then realisation struck me; they were Severus's parents. And that little boy was him. I turned to see the adult Severus was looking away from it, outside the window. His face was dark and cold and his eyes, they did not seem to express anything. I felt so bad for him. How long had he been through this? I went up to him and held his hands. He did not flinch or move away, just clasped his fingers around mine. I felt him soften a bit at my touch.

Then the scenedissolved, we were outside, in a field. No; a playground. That same boy, littleSeverus, a bit older than I last saw him in the room, was hiding behind somebushes and I was there beside him. He was looking at something. I followed hisgaze and saw two girls swinging. One of them suddenly went high and flown inthe sky for some time and then landed softly on the ground. The little girl waslaughing heartily now, while the other one was reprimanding her for doing that.I looked at Severus, and realised he was staring at the little one, with aglistening eyes and slightly flushed. The girl came near to the bush, picked upa flower and showed it to the other one, which only made the other girl angry. Then Severus came out from behind the bush, trying to converse with the littlegirl. He successfully managed to scare both of them with his direct words andawkward outfit.
