It was the last Quidditch match before the term ended and also coincided with my birthday; May 3. I did not want to spend that day playing Quidditch, getting tired and then going to sleep. I was turning sixteen, only one year to get rid of the trace. I wanted to spend it with my friends and Severus. But I cannot cancel Quidditch.
It was Greene's last match as the captain. And although she was cool, this match did make her hilariously nervous. When the half of the team returned afterEaster holidays, she was chasing them to practice like a freaky clown with a balloon chasing kids. Thank god I and Haoran decided to stay back during Easter.
We flew with our brooms, hovering in air before Gryffindors followed us. I looked over the teachers' stand to look at Severus. He was standing at the back with his arms crossed over his chest, giving that "I see you" smirk and a curt nod. Sean was sitting with Amy in the Slytherin stand. That guy had grown some balls over the months!
Hooch blew the whistle andthe game began. I tried my best to block as many Quaffles as possible including the Bludger from the other team and those from Palmer. He was still an idiot. Ilooked over to Haoran every ten minutes, expecting him to look for the snitchand catch it so that I get to spend the rest of the day as I wanted. Suddenly the crown went mad, when both the Seekers dived to follow the Snitch.
It was a close call.
They were gaining on eachother. For a moment even I forgot to concentrate on guarding the hoops which caused Gryffindors to score a goal and Slytherins whining over it and calling me names. Of course I knew it was my fault but I wasn't going to take shit fromthe spectators. I flipped them off in a fit of rage, before the whistle blewf rom somewhere near the ground; it was Madam Hooch.
She wasn't the only one who saw it. Everyone did. My eyes fell on Severus. He was clearly pissed off and was glaring daggers towards me. "Great" I thought to myself. Madam Hooch hovered near me and said with gritted teeth, "Another offensive sign and you will be out of the game for the next year."
"Yes ma'am. Understood." I said looking down. She went off. Meanwhile Haoran and the other Seeker lost the Snitch and the game went on for another thirty minutes, before they located the snitch again; this time both of them were determined to catch it. I saw from the corner of my eyes, the other team Beater; that is Foster sending a Bludger towards Haoran. It was rushing towards his extended arm which was meant to catch the Snitch.
"Watch out Haoran!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. He caught my warning, glanced sideways at the incoming Bludger and dived down, which caused the other Seeker to get hit in the broom, sending him spiralling down.
"Yes!" I shouted in my mind. I know it sounds bad. But I never claimed to be the Good Samaritan when it comes to Quidditch or my friends over other people.
Haoran caught the Snitch eventually and the Slytherins broke into a loud cheer. We won against Gryffindor and also Quidditch cup of the year, as the cherry on top. Greene was already head over heels with the win. Other Slytherin kids were on the field to watch the Captain take the Quidditch cup from Dumbledore. When she did, there was roar of cheer from the crowd all over again. Severus was standing right behind Dumbledore. Our eyes met and he gave the sweetest smile turning his eyes towards the cup. But I knew it was meant towards me. We gathered around for a group photograph with the head of the house. Of course the girls took their position beside Severus and I had to stand behind him, with Haoran. Greene was sticking to Severus with the cup. He couldn't shift much; otherwise he would have been out of the photo. A pang of jealousy hit my stomach; I wanted to shove Greene's broom up her cunt. But when my eyes met Sean's, who was standing at a distance, he kind of asked me to calm down.
