 November 1, 1981:

It was a day after Halloween and the feast was really great and for one day I could sit with Sean for dinner and together we kept pampering our sweet tooth, till we could not take it anymore and went off to sleep an hour before our regular bed time.

I woke up to some commotion in the morning, people were rushing around and a lot of sound came from the common room. I wondered looking at the bedside clock, "Damn it's 7am on a Sunday! What the hell is wrong these people?" I tried to sleep but something told me I should inquire into the commotion.

I went down to find a lot of students gathered in the common room with newspaper in their hand and saying something like "Potters.....Dark Lord"

I grabbed the only paper lying around and tried to read the headlines with my half sleepy eyes,

I could not believe my eyes, just a few days ago we were wondering if we would make it up to graduation before Voldemort attacks the school, now this. It means I will be home for Christmas, my family does not have to hide anymore, mum and granny can come back to London.

I ran to the Ravenclaw common room without wasting any time. As expected I saw Sean with his nose into the paper, smiling at the news. I reached him in two leaps and hugged him. He returned it with a tight squeeze. We did not need to say anything; he knew what that news meant to me, to us. He was happy too, though a part of me knew he was wondering as to how his parents are going to react to this news, since they were silent supporters of the Dark Lord.

The Ravenclaw prefect rushed into the common room and said "Everyone is immediately requested to gather in the Great hall by the headmaster." We looked at each other and nodded and went towards the Great Hall with everyone.

Everyone was still in their night wears when they gathered in the Great hall, even the teachers. Professor Dumbledore was already waiting on the podium, for us to settle down. Everyone sat haphazardly and soon the room felt silent as Dumbledore raised his hand. He looked like he did not sleep at all.

"I am sure you are all aware of past night's incident as the newspapers are filling it." He said shaking the newspaper in one hand. "The incident is true indeed, the one we all feared for a few years now.......He-who........Voldemort...is indeed gone for now. Presumed dead."

There was loud cheering and echoing in the halls from all the students. I and Sean did not leave our chance as well. We were happy, why not show it then. Dumbledore raised his hand again, gesturing us to lower our voices, "That does not mean we are out of danger; as of now his faithful followers or the Death Eaters as they called themselves are still running amuck, although Ministry is doing everything in their power to bring them in. However given the circumstances, we all deserve a holiday, so we the teachers have decided to give all of you a week off."

Cheers roared out again, there were whistling and students were high fiving each other, I wrapped Sean in a bone-crushing hug and he chuckled like an idiot. Again Dumbledore raised his hand gesturing us to slow down as he was not finished yet. "Letters have been sent out to all the parents, those who wish to go back home for a few days, please note that the Hogwarts Express will be leaving the station  tomorrow, those who wish to stay back are more than welcome. Now off everyone, you are welcome to spent the rest of your day to your liking, go out, enjoy the weather; Also Fourth years and above are allowed to go to Hogsmeade for these seven days."

I turned to Sean, who was already formulating a plan in his head. "What are you upto?" I asked. "Let's go sit by the Black Lake first, I wanted to play the guitar, there were a few songs I picked up recently you have to listen, then around noon we can go to Hogsmeade. Okay?"

"Great plan! Let me freshen up first, rendezvous Great Hall entrance in 15 minutes"

"Copy that!"

I rushed down to the Dungeons, to the common room and then to the dorm, brushed and got dressed in like ten minutes, did not bother to shower and already reached the rendezvous in time, to find Sean already waiting with his guitar.

"Hey did you see professor Snape anywhere during the meeting?" Sean asked me with a curiosity crossed on his face

"Nope, I don't think so, maybe he was not interested and was probably sleeping, taking the day off, why do you ask?" slightly blushing at the mention of his name.

"Well I heard some students, even boys in my dorm saying, maybe he fled because he is a death eater." The last part he whispered carefully into my ear, looking around to see if anyone overheard.

"No that's not true, Sean! You believe them, really?"

"I did not, but then where is he? Everyone was present in the hall, even Hagrid, he was not there."

"Maybe he has his reasons, but he is not what they say, otherwise Dumbledore won't appoint him as a teacher; others won't have taken that lightly, even if he did, not at least McGonagall."

"You are right, Dumbledore is a great wizard, and it is not easy to fool him." He looked relaxed.

"Alright, stop pestering about Snape, let's hear that guitar of yours."

So we went to sit by our favourite spot by the Black lake; the place was filled with students already, so we took a more secluded area, because we did not want any attraction from students around with that guitar. He had actually picked up pretty few songs during the summer; Blackbird Song by The Beatles, Hotel California, American Pie, some Elton John(that was our favourite).

I loved to hear him play, since I did not know how to play it. Although Sean promised me years ago he will teach me; I knew as far as promises go, it was a pretty lame one.

Noon rolled in, it got a bit chilly. We still made our way to Hogsmeade, to sip Butterbeer in the "Three Broomstick Inn". It was beaming with wizards and witches, dressed in colourful robes as an ode to the end of the Dark Wizard.

We barely sat down when Lockhart interrupted up, I looked up to see him beaming like he has just won a Quidditch cup or killed Voldemort himself.

Sean asked "Hey Lockhart, what's up? You are going home?"

"Yeah, what about you guys?"

"I am staying here."

"Me too." I replied.

"Let me buy you a Butterbeer Diaz."

"Why? What's the occasion?" I asked amused

"Because Voldemort's dead!" he roared so loudly, that the entire inn stopped to look at him for a second. "This is so embarrassing" I thought to myself and met eyes with Sean, who also had an amused look on his face, as to say "What the hell!"

"Yeah I know, but Sean owns me a Butterbeer from a bet, so maybe next time." I said, winking at Sean, who was quite confused, trying to remember which bet I was referring to.

Lockhart looked defeated as I sounded so convincing that he could not argue any further and went off saying "fine next time Diaz."

"I don't owe you any bet!" Sean spoke up, as soon as Lockhart left the pub.

"Of course you don't, but I am not letting that clown buy me anything." Sean realised and nodded his head with a smile on his face. He knew I would never think about dating someone who treats women like shit behind their back.

We enjoyed the rest of the day roaming around Hogsmeade; while returning we saw fireworks in the evening sky, which was so cool, then the feast. That's how seven days just went by. Mum wrote back, she is eagerly looking forward to Christmas. Everything is falling into place now.
