In Debt To The Mob

It was now midnight. Clyde had managed to get him and Audrey to safety. She had passed out during their escape. They were now outside of a penthouse located next to a river.

He looked at Audrey. She may be a bitch, but when she was afraid, that's when you know there's more to her than a narcissist. There was still a deep well of fear underneath. He wanted to feel bad, but he also knew it was partially her fault that he was in this mess.

"Audrey?" he said, slightly nudging her. She woke up.

"Uh... W-What? Clyde? Where are we?" she asked, remembering what had happened.

"We're in a safe place. I got into contact with an old friend and she agreed to let us stay here until we take care of the problem."

She looked outside of the car. She noticed the penthouse. It was decorated with Japanese symbols and had a door you'd typically see in a dojo. She also noticed the river. Even if the water flowing was calming, she couldn't stay calm.

They got out of the car and walked up to the building. He knocked on the door. Being outside in the city at night was unnerving. Although Audrey did it on a regular basis, this time felt different. It felt... unsafe.

Suddenly, someone answered the door. It was an Asian woman with black hair. She was wearing a yellow jumpsuit and had a green bandana on her head.

"Can I help you?" she asked, slightly sliding her dojo door open.

"Amanda, it's Clyde. I called you earlier." he said.

"Password?"

He sighed. But, he knew her rules: in order to access her home, you had to say the password.

"Watashi wa amanda." he said.

She opened the door and let them in.

"I'm glad you two are safe." she said.

"W-Who are you?" the redhead asked.

"My name is Amanda Xaioping, but I go by the name Amanda X." she said. The Japanese woman then went to a chest and grabbed a dagger.

"So, you must be Ms. Audrey Belrose?" she asked the party girl, sharpening the weapon.

"Y-Yeah. That's me. What about it?"

"Clyde has told me a lot about you. Told me you were in college and had to go to rehab because of a drug addiction."

"Y-Yeah. My roommate forced me to go. But, what is happening? Who were those guys trying to kill us?"

Clyde sighed. It was time to finally spill the truth. He tried to keep it all to himself, but now he had no choice, as Audrey's life was now on the line.

"They were... Mobsters. They've been coming after me ever since I had an unfortunate incident. Now, I'm in dept to the Wilson Family Mafia until I pay back my debts."

"T-The MOB?! Clyde, you were a criminal?" Audrey screamed, outraged at her boyfriend's past life.

"I AM a criminal. I've been doing horrible things during my free-time. Just trying to clear my debts until I pay the boss back."

"W-Why didn't you tell me? If you would've said something sooner, we wouldn't be in this mess! Oh God, Tiffany's gonna be so pissed. She was texting me before my phone died."

He grunted. It was her fault too. But, she did have a point: If he would've said something, he could've avoided the potential ambush at the motel.

"So, all this time when I was in love with a big hunky Korean man, I was really in love with a bloodthirsty criminal."

"Listen, Ms. Belrose. Clyde had something unfortunate happen to him. At least be understanding. Some things in life can't be controlled."

"Yeah, I know. But like, WHY THE MOB? Why would you even get involved with those type of people?"

"Just try to calm down. Get some sleep and we can further discuss this tomorrow."

"CALM DOWN?! I can't calm down knowing there's a target on my head and it's HIS FAULT! FUCK!"

Suddenly, Amanda grabbed her from the shoulder blade. She did that squeeze move that knocks someone unconscious. Audrey then collapsed on the floor.

"I'll put her to bed. We can start sorting this mess out tomorrow."

He nodded. He then headed to the bathroom to wash up. Suddenly, the dumb pink-haired fairy showed up again.

"Yo, what the fuck was that?" she said, scolding him.

"How did you get here? I would've thought the Wilsons shot you by now."

"Uh, hello? I'm a fairy? I can fly anywhere I want. DUH!" she teased.

He turned around, ignoring the sassy fairy's BS.

"Look, Clyde. After that shit that happened at the motel, I need to know the full scoop. You're in debt to the mob?"

"Y-Yeah. I'm in debt to the Wilson Family. I had an unfortunate incident happen and now, I'm fulfilling heinous crimes in order to pay back my debts."

"I mean, what happened? What incident could've caused the entire mafia to come after you like that?"

He sighed. As much as he was afraid to admit it, he needed to tell Kyu. Maybe, there was some hope that she could help in some way.

"I took a loan from the mob-boss and then I invited a girl over. We had sex and I woke up the next morning to all of it being gone. She stole it all. Now, he's pissed and wants me to pay back every dollar I lost."

"DAMN, bro! So, that's why you didn't want me helping you? You were scared of a broad stealing something from you?"

He nodded. As sad as it was, this did explain his attitude when they first met.

"Well, now I know what I was getting myself into. As much as I want to help, I don't think the folks in Sky Garden know anything about solving this. But, how much money do you owe them?"

"I... I owe them 3 million dollars." he admitted.

She gasped. "What the fuck? 3 million fucking dollars? Bro, not even my Munie system can reach that. You owe the mob that much?"

He nodded. "Yes. And if I don't pay them back soon, they're gonna whack me and Audrey. I made this mess, so I'm obligated to clean it up."

"God damn. So, you've been doing crimes in order to pay em back?"

"Yeah. But, look. We can talk more about this some other time. I need to get to bed. I'm gonna start sorting this mess out tomorrow morning. Amanda's going to help me."

"Well, okay. I wish you luck, bro. But whatever you do: Just make sure Audrey's safe. One of my previous clients cares about her. He would be upset if something happened to her or anyone else."

He nodded. Kyu disappeared and he took a long, cold shower. He had to think about this. The only thoughts he had were: This IS my fault. Audrey. I need to protect her. I've never felt this way before.
