Clyde and Audrey made it back to Amanda's remote penthouse safely. Although they were both on edge, at least they were still alive. She was glad to take off that e-girl outfit, as being seen in it was embarrassing. Talking to Ashley was even worse.

She settled down and went to the kitchen table. Amanda had prepared some hot tea for them, though Clyde turned it down.

She sat there, looking down in her mug of hot tea. The Japanese woman couldn't help but feel some kind of empathy for the once energetic party girl.

"Clyde, could you please go see Ray? Me and Ms. Belrose need a moment alone." she said. He nodded and left the kitchen to see her brother. She then sat at the table to comfort the redhead, who was showing visible signs of depression.

"How are you feeling, Ms. Belrose?" she asked.

"You don't have to call me that. My name's Audrey. The only person that goes by Ms. Belrose is my aunt Brooke."

"Right, I apologize, Audrey. I just called you that out of respect. But, since you have confirmed you prefer your first name, I must respect your preferences."

She looked down in her mug once again.

"So, how's the tea?" Amanda asked.

"Look, I know what you're trying to do. You can stop that right now. I'm a grown woman, I can take care of my own issues."

"Even those that are grown still need a helping hand every now and then, exactly why I decided to help you and Clyde out with the mafia situation."

She frowned. Yes, Amanda and her brother were helping them with getting out of trouble, but there was more going on than just the stuff with the Wilsons. Something else was brewing up in the 24 year old's head.

"Amanda, can I ask you something? One girl to another?" she asked, sounding serious.

"I'm all ears."

"H-Have you ever lost someone close to you?"

She frowned, as this was a topic she had plenty of experience with.

"I have. Grief is a hard thing to overcome, just as much as an addiction. Trust me, I can relate to losing someone and having an addiction at the same time."

"W-Wait, really? You lost someone and had an addiction?" she asked, seeming surprised at the Japanese woman's statement.

"Yes. You may not know much about me, but my brother-in-law was murdered a few years ago by a Wilson family mobster. Not too long after that, my sister jumped off a building, killing herself. Our family has not been the same since, and I had to cope by taking narcotics. Losing him was one thing, but losing my sister was what really pushed me to the edge. Sometimes, I can still hear her voice, calling for me to get revenge on the Italian's boss, Kingpin Jack, in order to avenge her death."

She was shocked hearing this. She originally thought Amanda was just another Japanese assassin who went out and looted. But, she never thought she had a tragic backstory like this.

"Oh my gosh... I'm so sorry. So, your sister committed suicide?"

"Yes. She was a beautiful woman named Shiko. But, after her husband's assassination, she couldn't bare to live anymore. So, she took her own life. I had to admit myself into rehab in order to get my head straight. Now, my one and only goal is to take down Jack for what he did to me and my family."

"You admitted yourself?" the party girl asked.

"I did. I went voluntarily because I knew taking those drugs would mess my mind up. I went for 3 months and came out a different person. Now, it's my sworn duty to avenge Shiko's death."

She nodded, as Amanda's story had many similarities to hers.

"So, what's your story?" she asked the redhead, wondering what was going on.

"Look, my story isn't too different from yours, but my uncle had passed away in his sleep last January. I never told anyone about it, but instead started using the drugs more often than not to cope after his death. My Aunt Brooke inherited his fortune and doesn't call me anymore. I was out of control, even caused issues for some of my closest friends. I had a friend who was suffering from mental issues and because I got too stuck-up, I almost ruined a strong relationship he had with my bestie, Tiffany. He almost died, but thankfully pulled through. Then, she sent me to rehab to get clean. Spent 3 months in there and came out sober, but I was still having cravings. Even wasted my birthday in there."

Amanda nodded. This was definitely a tragic story she shared, especially considering she almost caused her friend to die.

"I see. So, because the drugs got into your head, you started acting crazy and caused issues? That's happened to me."

"Y-Yeah. But, I do think her telling everyone that I went in by myself rather than her admitting me is kind of uncalled for."

"She might have told them that for your sake. If people knew she admitted you, rather than admitting yourself, they would see you as not willing to change. I think it was in your best interest."

She nodded. That did make sense. Tiffany told everyone she admitted herself so that they wouldn't have a negative vision of her. All this time, she thought the blonde was being harsh, but she was really looking out for her.

"I-I guess you're right." she said.

"Trust me, Audrey. Your roommate cares deeply about you. I'm pretty sure the feeling's mutual with you, as you did the right thing and told her to not get involved with this. Not only to protect her, but to protect her boyfriend as well."

She smiled. For once in the passed few days, she had a slight smile on her face. What she just said was not only wholesome, but it was also true.

"I'm glad we had this talk. Let's see how Ray's doing. If he perfects his invention, you will be safe in no time."

They both got up and went to Ray's room, which had a trap door in it. This peaked Audrey's interest.

"What's that?" she said.

"Ray's workroom is in a secret part of the house. It's down there below the ground, in case a potential raid happens." she said.

Raid? Was them getting raided a problem? They then went down the stairs and saw Ray and Clyde chatting. Of course, this was the first time they got a glance at what the brilliant Japanese man was working on.

"How's it coming along, Ray?" his sister asked.

"It's going fine, but the last piece I do not have. Unfortunately, you and Clyde need to make one more trip into the city in order to obtain the last part I need for it."

She then looked at the device and couldn't help but wonder: what is this thing?

"So, what is it?" the party girl asked, not knowing what his invention or plan was.

"It's... It's an EMP."
