When Gordie announced that, the crowd surrounding him was baffled, no one made a whisper or a sound as this news hushed the room.  Everyone just stood still. Mason glanced up at Grizz and noticed that he was surprised by this news. Even Allie, who was standing in front of everyone was astonished and had no idea what to say.

"Okay." Mason whispered to herself and Grizz looked down at her. "Okay!" She said louder so everyone could hear her.

She walked through the middle of the group and joined Gordie, Bean, and Allie on the gazebo. As Mason faced the group she looked at everyone's pale face that was displaying a large amount of fear and worry. She took a deep breath and tried to pull herself together,

"We all knew that the answer was going to be weird." Mason hesitated as she tried to find something to say that would make the situation better. "I-I think that this is actually kind, hopeful."

The group was silent except for a single girl in the front. She knitted her eyebrows and looked up at Mason asking, "How do you figure that?"

"Because, if this isn't our Earth, then it means that everything we love and miss is still out there." Mason crossed her arms over her body to try and get the cool breeze off her skin, ""Our parents are still alive and our siblings. They're just someplace else. I mean, doors work both ways. If we came here in one direction there has to be a way to get back. This also means that this is a new world, and as far as we know, we are its first people. . .and this is its first Thanksgiving. Sooo, let's go eat!"

As Mason stepped down from the gazebo she made a beeline straight to Grizz who put his arm around her and looked down at her with a lopsided smile that made her heart flutter.

The entire church was filled from wall to wall. Tables filled the center with people sitting at them enjoying their meals. The walls were decorated with paper chains that were orange and brown. Tables of turkey, and potatoes, and desserts lined the edges of the room. Mason stood next to the food tables and watched as the news from earlier seemed to be forgotten as everyone was eating and talking amongst each other.

The Guard brought in about five large turkeys and set them on the tables. People began to get up and feast on the large birds and within about twenty minutes all that was left was bones and overcooked meat.

Mason started to walk around the church, asking individuals and groups how the food was. She walked over and sat down next to Grizz and her friends. Grizz wrapped his arm around her waist and rested his hand on her hip. Helena smiled at her as she sat down across from her. Within the next thirty minutes, all that was left over was picked over food and scraps of turkey. The only table still filled with food was the dessert table.

Allie was cutting pies with Gordie and Helena, Mason stayed at the table with Grizz and Luke making small talk. She was looking around the room enjoying how happy everyone looked until her eyes fell on a particular blonde in the back corner.

She didn't remember ever seeing Campbell with a girl, especially not Elle Tomkins. Mason was slightly intrigued by this, but didn't want to admit it.

"Hey everyone." Helena announced. "So if everyone could sit down. We are going to go around and say what we are thankful for."

"Um, I'm thankful for how hard my team fought at touch football." Everyone cheered as Jason sat back down.

Then Clark stood up and completely killed the mood. "I'm thankful I can get stoned every day without my parents on my ass." Clapping and cheers erupted, once again. "Though, I miss them giving me a hard time."

Clark sat back down and everyone got quiet. Mason looked around the room and decided she would stand up, "Well, I'm thankful for Clark. For saying what we've all been thinking. I miss my parents. Both of them."
