You stood in front of the bathroom mirror, the faint droplets of water from the sink echoing around the cold room. The faint glow of golden rim light hadn't brought enough clarity on the fogged up mirror you looked back on.
You slowly pushed back the collar from around your neck, the blue welts on the skin looked ugly and swollen. Every movement and crane of your neck had your whole body stiffen from the pain. You gently rubbed Arnica cream on the blue and purple welts imprinted along the skin and slightly hissing when you touched the tender part.
You sighed, leaning on the sink.
The lack of sleep, the hunting dreams and the pressure and pain was getting heavier to carry on your shoulder. You keep repeating to Rindou that you were fine, but you weren't, you didn't know you'd come back into fearing for your life once more.
Tears sprung from the corner of your eyes.
Something felt wrong. You felt empty. Was this homesickness? It was impossible because you never had a place to call home in the first place.
You buried your face in your hands, sniffling silently until the tears you'd been holding back fell, one tear then two, until it was falling endlessly.
You asked yourself why were you crying, when this time you have everything don't you? You thought you'd be happy now you had it, but why was there something making you feel like this wasn't it.
Rindou was behind the door the whole time, not wanting to pressure you from his presence, he wanted to leave you alone, let you gather up your strength.
He knew not everything could be fixed by him smothering you. He wanted to give you enough space to breathe, to feel safe again. And he'd wait for no matter how long, until you needed him again, and he'd carry you back to him once more.
