REFLECTIONS
-the neighborhood-seraphina had gone back to the tree that monty had found her in. she watched everything that had happened in the past hours from a small platform she made. including murphys wonderful display of idiocy. then bellamy walked over talking about taking off the bracelets.
she knew clarke would bitch about how she let this happen. personally, seraphina didn't care.
when it was dark the only light left was the bonfire that stood in the center. kids surrounded it waiting for their wristbands to be removed. as she spotted wells making his way over she sat on the edge of the platform ready to join the commotion if needed.
"what the hell are you doing?" that was a stupid question. bellamy held a kid back from approaching wells, "we're liberating ourselves. what does it look like." seraphina jumped down.
"it looks like your trying to get us all killed" wells spoke, "the communication system is dead. take them off and the ark will think we're dying, that it's not safe for them to follow." bellamy's eyes filled with amusement, "that's the point, chancellor, we can take care of ourselves. can't we?" he yelled out receiving nods and shouts from the crowd.
"you think this is a game? those aren't just our friends and our parents up there. they're our farmers, our doctors, our engineers. i don't care what he tells you. we won't survive here on our own, and besides, if it really is safe, how could you not want the rest of our people to come down?"
seraphina scoffed making her entrance as bellamy spoke about his people being down here. wells saw her approaching and looked to her for help.
"wells you do realize that the kids down here, they'll just be locked up again when the council comes down." seraphina paused, "things won't be any different just because we're on earth. so if they want to take off the damn bracelets let them." she finished. the crowd shouted yeahs, and cheered.
bellamy nodded to her, "here, we do whatever the hell we want whenever the hell we want. now, you don't have to like it, wells. you can even try to stop it or change it, kill me. you know why? whatever the hell we want." that caused a total uproar of kids chanting whatever the hell we want
then it began to rain and seraphina laughed in pure joy accidentally bumping into bellamy and turning around watching his slicked-back hair fall into loose curls. "your hair looks cuter that way pretty boy" she spoke softly before walking away to enjoy the rain and help wells collect it.
the chancellor's son saw her, "you come to fight me westwood?" she laughed at his attempt to look fierce.
"i'm not murphy. i'm also not stupid, we need water." she said lowly. wells nodded, "why didn't you help me back there?" she shook her head, "we're not friends wells. i just don't think you're right." she paused, "those kids know a lot. they all grew up with their parents for the most part working in different stations."
wells breathed a heavy sigh, "what about their families huh? why would they leave them to die?"
seraphina took a soft breath, "some of them are dead, others abandoned their kids when they got arrested. i know it's not easy to understand but you can't just try and control things like the ark."
wells disagreed, "it was a good system so im going to try." she looked at him in disappointment, "goodnight wells." and she walked away, a piece of the parachute in her hand to make a cover for her tree platform.
